Luz spent the rest of the day and most of the day after trying and failing to recreate the ball of light from her dreams. First, she tried picturing the glyph in her mind multiple times, only to fail every time. She then decided to try doing it in a dark closet to see if the lighting was the key factor, only for it to fail and for her to stub her toe on an iron anvil that Eda kept in there for some reason. She then tried several power-up positions, did a handstand for half an hour, yelled 'Summon Light ball' a few times, and even banged her head on the wall only for all those ideas to go down the drain.

By the time Luz was on her fourth break, it was almost 2:30 pm, and when Luz looked at the clock to see that she remembered her meeting with Amity. So quickly Luz put on her light violet hoodie and packed a small sketchpad, her library card, a few smock booms, and other tricks in its pocket. After she checked herself in the mirror, Luz made her way down the stairs and to the living room where Hooty greeted her. "Where are you going?" asked Hooty as Luz opened his door. "I'm going to meet a friend," said Luz as she gave him a happy look. "If I'm not back before Mom and King tell them I'll be at the library," Luz said before running off into the woods toward Bonesborough without realizing Hooty was on the verge of tears. 'They grow up so fast,' thought Hooty as he fought back the waterfalls that threatened to come out.

After a 40-minute walk, Luz arrived at the library more excited about seeing Amity again than she was leaving the house. Eagerly Luz walked in and made her way to the front desk where she saw a middle-aged man with silver-gray hair, a long pointy nose, and round glasses framing his bored-looking face. "Excuse me do you know if a girl named Amity is here?" Luz asked the librarian hoping that her new friend had already arrived. "I don't know, look around and see for yourself," said the librarian in an annoyed voice as he returned to his paperwork.

At first, Luz was taken aback by the man's rudeness and was about to say something until she remembered what her mom told her about people like this. 'For idiots like that, it's better to just walk away,' said Eda in Luz's memory. So after taking a beep breath Luz thanked the man and walked into the rouse of bookshelves looking for Amity or something to read while she waited. While walking around Luz spotted a book about theories on the titan and wondered if it might have some answers about the glyph and her powers.

After grabbing the book Luz made her way to the closest table, sat down, and started to read the book. Luz didn't know how long she had been reading because, by the time she finished a third of the book, a certain someone sat down next to her. "What are you reading?" asked the person sitting next to Luz. Surprised by the sudden question, Luz quickly shut the book and put on her best 'I didn't do anything' look. To her relief, Luz saw that it was none other than Amity who asked the question.

After letting out a breath she didn't know she was holding and doing a quick once over, Luz saw that instead of the black dress shirt and reddish-brown tights Amity had worn yesterday. She was now wearing a dark gray uniform with long purple sleeves and leggings. "Oh, hey Amity," Luz said as she relaxed her shoulders and leaned back into her chair. "Hey Luz, so," Amity said gesturing to the now closed book. "Oh, it's just a book about titan theories. Nothing too interesting," Luz said as she should the cover to Amity. "But I am interested in the books you have," said Luz as she pointed to the small stack on the table before Amity.

"They're not that interesting, they're mainly just about history, abomination magic, and a few other subjects I need to study for school," Amity said as she grabbed the first book from the top and opened it. "What is your school like?" asked Luz elbow on the table head propped up on her hand. "It's the same as any other school I guess," said Amity as she turned the pages of the book trying to find the right chapter. "What are they like then?" asked Luz earning a surprised but mostly confused look from Amity. "Don't you go to school?" Amity asked.
