While the trio makes their way to the library Gus fires a million questions at Luz who is doing her best to answer all of them. "So you've never seen another of your kind except for your little brother?" Gus asked after Luz told him about her adoption story. "Yep, we're not even in any demon documentary both current and old," explained Luz feeling bad that she had to lie to them. "Interesting," Gus said as he wrote something down in a small notepad that seemed to come out of nowhere.
"So, out of curiosity did you and your brother make up a name for yourselves or something like that?" Gus asked as he looked up from his notes. "Will we didn't come up with one ourselves, but some people on the street have started calling us Hellhounds," Luz answered slightly amazed that Gus still had questions. As Gus returned to writing in his notepad Willow leaned over to Luz and whispered in her ear. "Thanks for answering his question. I know he could be a bit 'much' sometimes," said Willow who was slightly amazed by Luz's patience.
"Years of babysitting a younger brother and a talkative hours demon pays off," said Luz with a proud look in her eyes. "A talkative, what?" asked Gus looking up from his notes. "You don't want to know," Luz said, knowing they'd want to meet him if she told them. "Anyway, we're here," Luz said pointing ahead of them. Upon hearing that Willow and Gus looked to where Luz was pointing and saw the library in front of them. With Luz leading the group the trio entered the library and headed for the front desk.
"Excuse me, do you have any books to help us with magic development and control?" Luz asked the librarian who had the same broad expression as all ways. "First floor in the 14th aisle of the non-fiction section," said the librarian not bothering to even look at Luz. Following his instruction the three friends made their way to the aisle and started looking for the needed books. After fifteen minutes of looking on the shelves, they found four promising books. "Are you sure these books will help us?" Willow asked looking down at the books she and Gus were carrying. "The only way to find out is to try," said Luz with as much confidence she could hoping it would ease Willow's nerves.
"Thanks, Luz. First, you helped us with Boscha, and now this. We owe you big time," said Gus giving Luz a big and bright smile. "You don't owe me anything, I just want to do the right thing that's all," Luz said rubbing the back of her neck feeling both embarrassed and flattered by Gus's component. Hearing that Willow began to think that her first judgment of Luz was wrong and was about to say something, but was interrupted by an all-too-familiar voice coming from behind. "Hey Luz," said the voice causing Willow and Gus to turn around and see Amity Blight walking towards them.
When Amity realized that Willow and Gus were there, she stopped in her tracks and stared at them in surprise. "Hi Amity," Luz greeted as she approached Amity waving. "Wait, Amity was the friend you were meeting up with?" asked Willow, her voice slightly on edge. Turning around to face her new friends she saw that Willow had an angry look on her face while Gus had more of a nervous/worried look on his. "Yeah, is there something wrong? Wait, you three know each other?" asked Luz as she looked between the three witches only to see that Amity had started to walk away rather quickly.
"Amity, wait!" Luz yelled trying to stop her friend only to see Amity turn a corner and disappear. "Ok, what's going on?" Luz asked turning back to face Willow and Gus only to see Willow walking away with a not-so-happy look. After quickly looking between Luz and Willow Gus walked up to Luz and told her something she was surprised to hear. "We all go to the same school, and the two of them used to be best friends until Amity ended it," said Gus earning a small gasp from Luz. "Amity also hangs out with Boscha's group every once in a while so you might want to watch your back," said Gus before walking off to catch up with Willow.
Luz stood there like a statue taking everything in and trying to make sense of it for a while. She knew Amity's parents had forced her to stop hanging out with her best friend, but she never knew who they were. But she also wanted to know why Amity would socialize with people like Boscha's group. Luz wanted answers but also wanted help clear the misunderstanding between Willow and Amity, so after coming to a decision Luz jogged after Willow and Gus.
