"I feel like I should've taken care of buying the presents much earlier!" My boyfriend Seungmin said, sounding very stressed out. "I've always done most of the shopping in November. I can't believe I've forgotten to get this done."
"Hey babe, calm down." I tried to make my voice as soothing as possible. I walked over to him as he was rummaging in his closet in pursuit of finding a pair of warm gloves.
"We have the whole day off today and I can't be your shopping assistant. I'm certain we'll find the perfect presents for everyone." I took his hand in mine. "Seungmin I love you and I hate to see you freaking out over a minor issue like this. You don't have to do everything alone, just let me help you."
He held my gaze steadily.
"We're in a hurry and I can't even find my gloves!" He sounded almost defeated.
"Babe, have you checked the pockets of your coat?" I asked him. I was pretty sure I remembered seeing him put them there yesterday, right before he cupped my face in his hands and kissed me deeply.
I blushed at the memory of that kiss, an excellent kiss, and averted looking at my boyfriend so he wouldn't notice how much I was impacted by this memory. I still had to pinch myself sometimes, just to make sure that being loved back by Seungmin wasn't simply a figment of my imagination.
He dug his pockets and sure enough found the exact gloves he'd been looking for.
"Okay you were right, as you almost always are. Thank you for being the voice reason whenever my thoughts try to go off the rails.
I watched him place the gloves on a table and cup my face with his hands, an action that was the exact replica of yesterday's. I could feel the thousands of butterflies take flight in my stomach as he gently caressed my cheeks with his thumbs. Seungmin whispered I love you, before bringing his lips to mine.
Kissing him felt like home.

The mall was filled with people.
This was a wonderful thing since it meant that everyone was busy focusing on their own list, either physical or mental, of things they needed to buy. The masses of busy people who were solely focusing on themselves and their own needs and wants, made it possible for my boyfriend and I to easily blend in and avoid him being recognized. Today turned out to be a rare occurrence when Seungmin was not recognized by one single person.
My day consisted of obediently following my boyfriend around while pushing a cart. Seungmin began his shopping spree by picking out 8 distinct kinds of fancy chocolate.
"Why 8?" I had to ask, thinking it might simply be a habit for him to get everything in 8ths.
Seungmin smiled adorably. "I figured we could share one tonight."
I gave him a quick kiss on the cheek. Even if he hadn't been recognized by anyone so far, it was still better to keep public shows of affection to a minimum and keep it very PG just in case. The last thing I wanted to do was to cause a negative reaction from Stay to his image as an idol.
I didn't mind being his shopping assistant at all. In fact, it brought me immense joy to see him jump around and sprint excitedly over to different items. Seungmin was the type of person who got happiness and immense pleasure from making other people happy. This was one of the many qualities about him which I adored and admired.
Seungmin placed a whole bunch of stuffed animals in the cart, a fancy coffee maker for Han, ugly Christmas jumpers for every member (and a 9th one for me), which Seungmin was dead set on making everyone wear on Christmas. He picked out five board games, which they all could play together, maybe even on Vlive.
I noticed that he kept placing smaller, less personally chosen items in the cart. I could tell that he was getting a bit anxious and maybe a little annoyed.
By now we'd walked through almost every section of this ginormous store. The cart was filled to the brim with presents, but my boyfriend didn't seem happy.
"Something is missing." He sounded frustrated. His foot was bouncing up and down, and I could almost hear the cogs in his brain turning. "But I'm out of ideas."
"It's okay," I tried to reassure him. "We can just take this shopping cart over to the checkout and maybe visit another store. We still have plenty of time."
"Maybe..." Seungmin was still deep in thought.
"Babe, the members are not expecting you to buy each of them a mountain of presents. It's the thought that matters and you've put plenty of thought into this." I hugged him tightly.
"Okay." He agreed. "But if I come up with a better idea during the upcoming days, will you join me on another shopping trip?" He sounded so hopeful.
"Of course I will." I confirmed, looking him in the eyes. He had exceptionally beautiful eyes. Whenever he looked at me like this, I could feel his unwavering love for me. It made me feel like the luckiest girl in the world.
We walked over to the checkout area. This time with him pushing the cart. I walked right behind him since the cart cleared us a way to proceed through the crowd of people.
Seungmin came to a stop abruptly and I walked right into him.
"What's up?" I was concerned.
He didn't respond.
I stood on my tiptoes, placing my hands on his shoulders so I could use his body to steady me. I followed his gaze.
My dear boyfriend, who was an adult by the way, was looking at a colorful bouncy castle with eyes as wide as plates.
"That's it." He whispered, seemingly to himself.
"It is a bouncy castle, yes?" I didn't really follow his train of thought.
Seungmin averted his eyes from the colorful children's play place and turned to look at me.
"That's what was missing! The perfect present for everyone to share!"
"You guys would jump around that thing together?" I tried to hold back laughter.
"Well not that specific one, as it is made for kids. We need a much bigger one." He sounded like he was already trying to figure out where to get one. "Don't worry, you'll get your turn jumping too!" The excitement in his voice was contagious.
Seungmin paid for the presents, and we carried everything back home with us. Later in the evening we spent an hour searching for the perfect ginormous bouncy castle online.
We found a perfect one, and Seungmin's Christmas was saved.
