Nova Academy was a tall, sleek building made with black and grey bricks instead of red. It made him uneasy, as if he were entering into darkness itself.
He rolled past a shiny metal sign with the words, 'The Esteemed Nova Academy Welcomes You!' imprinted on it as he turned into the parking lot.
He had enlisted his ex fuckbuddy and... close friend Allison to help him pack what little he had a few months ago and pick out his new school outfit, since it was specific about colors but said students could mostly wear what they wanted within those lines.
He's decided on a simple black button up, with shiny gold stars as buttons. On the left side it had a pocket with a larger gold star and a few smaller stars around it. It was tight fitting, but comfortable. It wasn't long sleeved as he overheated easy and often, it was light and airy too. For pants he wore simple black jeans custom made to accommodate for his height and size.
He hoped this was enough. He thought back to that first email he'd received and read over a million times:
'Congrats! You got in!
Now what?
Orientation is Friday, August 25th and school begins the following Monday, August 28th.
Nova Academy is the top school in the industry, and many of our students go on to be picked up by high ranking agencies and even more go on to be published content creators and models.
This certainly intrigued him. While he'd never thought about being a content creator, there was something about modeling that had always interested him ever since he'd first seen Yellow Pearl posing for Blue Pearl. Self expression without saying a word.
'Of course, I never really got to explore anything that interested me as a kid.' He thought bitterly. It wasn't until the last couple of years that he'd even really understood what sex was.
'Here at Nova, we value cleanliness, punctuality, fun but above all safety and respect. We require all of our students to be frequently tested, which we provide at little to no cost to you every 14 days through blood and urine tests.'
'Tested for what?' He'd thought to himself. While he wasn't as naive as he used to be, it had taken him until the moment he was peeing into a cup to realize why.
His PTSD worked in strange ways and he often found himself halfway through a task before he realized he was doing anything at all. He was in his head a lot, despite being what most would call extroverted.
A horn honked and he came back to present, slamming on the breaks before he could go crashing into a car that was pulling out of a parking spot for students.
Top students.
The sign stood there proudly, 'For our most dedicated top students'.
He had never really had formal education, he knew the basic things that could at least get him along in life but he wondered what it was like to be a top student and know what you were doing.
The man drove past him slowly, and at first when he rolled the window down Steven expected to be called a dangerous idiot who shouldn't be on the road, which was half true.
He motioned for Steven to follow suit and he did, getting a closer look at the guy.
Steven's truck was higher than his car, but the guy seemed to be having a similar struggle to Steven when he'd had the Dondai. He poked his head out the window and waved.
"Hey, I'm Artez, but everyone calls me Hazel. You must be the new student." On his ear, a piece of jewelry caught the sunlight and Steven realized it was a diamond stud. A real one.
