It wasn't all that much that Connie even did to him, but they had just barely started dating so she couldn't really blame him for his reaction.
She walked into the cafeteria to see Steven sitting with their friends and she beamed. She loved Steven. She loved watching him tell stories. She loved all of them too. She loved how all of her friends were so different, she loved that they were all so similar. She was full of love today, brimming and then overflowing with it.
Her boyfriend turned to acknowledge her immediately, but before he could ask for a kiss, she gasped, "Steven! What's that thing over there?"
He turned his head in confusion to look at the imaginary thing, and her fingers turned his face back to her in a fluid motion. She gazed into his eyes and hummed, loving his sweet face.
His eyes widened. The noise that came out of him could only be described as a girly squeal and then a long giggle as his shoulders rose. His face turned so pink she had to make sure he wasn't glowing. The irises of his eyes had lightened to almost a honey brown color and he looked up at her with a heavy amount of glee. She hugged him as their friends awww'ed at the interaction.
"That was... so feminine." Jasmin applauded slowly. "The only way I can get Boinko over here to do that is to–,"
"No!" He shouted over her. "This is about sweet little Steven. Not sweet little me."
"That man is a babygirl," Anna giggled.
"I've never heard something as big as Steven make a sound so cute." Adam patted over his chest and grinned.
Steven was trying to speak with his forehead resting against her chest but only soft squeaks that could've been him trying to speak and occasionally a high pitched, "Why would you do that?!" came out and then he would just dissolve all over again, wrapping his arms even tighter around her.
"He's like a cute alarm," Alex laughed. "Look, it's spreading!"
Connie pulled away enough to see his ears beginning to turn pink too. "Steven... you're so adorable."
He nuzzled into her and giggled some more, so she sat next to him and let him hide his face in her shoulder. He was hot to the touch now and had started sweating lightly.
"Damn girl! You come in and the first thing you do is make Steven fangirl over you. That's skill." Anna nodded. "Respect."
"No, she came and broke him," Alex corrected. "That's a man who just got his world rocked."
She rubbed his head, and they all started talking about classes and plans to go on trips together and the dreaded dance. It was off without Steven participating, but he could barely seem to comprehend anything being said to him.
Eventually it was too much to ignore, and they all started teasing him just as his face started to lose a bit of color.
"Aw, look at Steven. He's so small and precious it's contradictory to the fact that he's basically seven feet tall," Hazel cooed.
"I kinda wanna see in its full glory," Jasmin mused. "I mean, how often do we get to see Steven like this?"
"Come on, Steven! Show us your face, we promise to stop teasing if you do~!" Anna singsonged to him.
He shook his head vigorously. "Nuh-uh."
"You straight up made him a bottom without even having to say anything." Jacob laughed when his face reddened more.
"Subby Steven was widely believed to be canon." Connie pointed a potato fry at Jacob. "But this might just solidify it."
"Come on, cuppy-cake!" Alex coaxed with a laugh. "Just a peek, no judgement here. Mostly. We've just gotta make sure we never forget the time Connie flustered Steven so bad his voice went up four octaves." Alex pulled out his camera and nodded at Connie. "It's only fair."
