"So, where does my lovely fiancé want to go next?" Connie reaches over and pokes Steven's cheek.

He starts choking up again, he's been like this since she proposed. He shrugs and sniffles obnoxiously. "Anywhere where you're with me."

It's been an hour since they left Beach City behind and the drive is filled with memories of growth and change.

"You're so weepy. What happened to my suave androgynous partner with the forever smirk?"

He pulls the car over and cries some more before reaching over and kissing her as many times as he can before he starts up again. "I don't know what's wrong with me. I think I'm broken." He chuckles. "I'm so fucking dehydrated."

"Better drink some water then." Their lips meet again briefly.

"I'll get you a gallon, you're going to need it," The kiss is promising and feverish enough that she giggles into it. She's giddy too. Her emotions are so maxed out that all she can do is love on this teddy bear and kiss him while the cars and semis fly by.

Her phone buzzes and she pulls away, glancing quick enough that he couldn't possibly have seen who it was from. Shes nervous again but she's doing her best to act casual.

'2 hours away, get on it Lioness ;)'

She relaxes a little bit more and looks down at the hand that will soon have an engagement ring, and then a wedding band to go with it. Her parents had asked if they were moving quickly, and she had heartily nodded. Why prolong the inevitable? Why not say it now? She gets it now, or at least the more logical side of where they are now compared to then. It clicks in her mind and stays there as a centerpiece.

Steven intakes a shocked breath and she feels the truck slow down a tenfold. A car honks behind them.

"We've gotta go back."

She startles and whips to face him. "To... where?"

"Beach City." His eyes are wide with epiphany. "We have to buy a house there and overrun the town with children."

"Oh my god." She feigns her own shock with a hand over her mouth and wide eyes. She'd been planning for this, but didn't expect it to come so easily. "We have to go back to Beach City."

Steven pulls the most dangerous and illegal U-turn she has ever seen featuring driving over a median and the willpower of a god and races back nearly 20 miles above the posted speed limit.

"St-Steven slow down!" She scolds. "Beach City isn't going anywhere!"

"Sorry." He taps the break and they slow to an acceptable pace. "I was just driving and thinking and all of a sudden I realized I don't have anywhere else I want to go but home." He searches for her hand and clasps it tightly. "We're going home, Ni."

'Change of plans. Step on it,' She types.

She has to convince him to stop for gas even though they are half full with only 30 minutes to go. As he's pumping her phone buzzes again.

'Okay, everything should be going according to plan. Just passed you and btw you're glowing Miss Bride!'

'Yes I'm sure it's going to be just thrilling.'

She snorts and Steven smiles at her. "What's so funny?"

Connie almost freezes but her intelligent brain makes up for it with a sultry smile and a cute little hip wiggle. "I was just thinking about how sexy you look doing domestic things like filling gas tanks."
