Chapter 9: It's a Date

~1 week later ~

Hanji was eating at the cafeteria with the gang again. They all finished their meals and were ready to head back to work.

"You coming Hanji?" Connie asked as he threw his scraps in the trash.

"I'm gonna stay here a while, you guys go ahead." Hanji reassured with a smile. Connie shrugged and headed out of the cafeteria with Sasha and Eren.

"She always stays late..." Sasha said suspiciously.

"Right?! I wonder what's going on?"

Eren laughed. The two turned to him, "You know something that we don't Jaeger?" Connie glared mockingly at Eren. Eren chuckled again at their obliviousness, he shook his head.

"Shhh just wait." The three stood near the entrance of the cafeteria and waited.

A few minutes went by.

"I don't see anything-" Connie was stopped by Eren's hand mid complaint. Connie's and Sasha's eyes widened. Levi walked right past the three and into the cafeteria. They peaked around the corner and saw him go sit next to Hanji.

"You don't think..."

"They're dating?"

Eren shrugged, "I can't believe you haven't noticed!" He laughed. "They've been having lunch together for like a week."

"What?!" They yelled in unison.

"They have to be dating, Levi doesn't normally even come down here." Sasha added. "I ship em."

Eren smiled at the two. He had never seen Levi this happy since the incident and maybe even before.

"Hey, Shortie!" Hanji cheered as she saw the Captain walk in.

He glared at her. "Don't call me that Four-eyes." He mumbled. Hanji laughed. Lunch was her favorite part of the day. The two talked for a while before Hanji gasped.

Levi jumped, "Jeez what is it?" He asked, hand over his heart.

"I've never seen your apartment before! AND WE'RE NEIGHBORS!" Hanji yelled mock angrily.

Levi thought back, "Hmm that's true..." He glanced deviously up at her, "Is this your way of saying you want to come over after work?" Hanji blushed in response. Levi stood up and brushed off his pants. "It's a date." He stated before he walked out.

Hanji's heart stopped. The power this short man has on me is ridiculous she thought with a big grin on her face.

Hanji couldn't wait for the end of the work day. She could only imagine what his place looked like.

"Ugghhhhh" Hanji groaned, "Could this day be any longer?" She mumbled to herself. She pulled out her phone.

EvilGenius: Won't be home after work, got a date 😉

Baddie: Omg no way!

EvilGenius: Going over to his place 😏

Before Hanji could read Mikasa's text something caught her eye. A large group of recruits walked past her door in full uniform, military grade guns in their hands. What's going on? She wondered as she continued to watch the troops pass.

Her eyes widened in surprise when she saw Levi following the back in his uniform and gear. He looked incredible to Hanji. She hadn't seen him in uniform until now. There was a worry tugging in the back her mind... Were they going on a mission? Would Levi tell her if he was? Did something bad happen? Why else would they all be in full gear? Hanji panicked. She got up and ran to her door. She saw Eren straggling behind and she lunged for his shoulder as he passed.
