"Do you ever worry about a robot biting you and you becoming a Liquid Metal that he drinks?"
"What?" I shrug. "I just thought about it now."
"Clearly. No. No I don't." I wasn't too sure why she had to show me around.
She was pretty, not that it had anything to do with that last statement.
But she was really pretty.
She smells like how I imagined the break between summer and autumn would smell. Like a slaty kind of cookie smell.
It was nice.
Some of her braids had little ribbons in them and she had little rosy cheeks. The pink obsession made her skin look so soft.
"Do you like pink?" She nods. "It's a good colour. Makes you look shiny- like the good shiny- the- like the matte shiny- that's, like an opaque kind of thing you know?"
"Thank you?" I might die. "I wonder if anybody's ever been bitten by a pig before."
"What is your problem?" I shrug. "The lack of guidance in my life seemingly had an effect on my social awareness skills and so I tend to speak when I feel like i can. My mind is a temple but like- a really bad one with- bad people inside that like to drink coke."
Her eye twitches. "Hm. You're a little strange." Nodding slowly I watched her take a step back.
"You don't seem very- here. Like you're here but you look like- Kesha is playing really loudly in your brain." She says, laughing. "That's about right yeah. I'm Harry... Styles- not that you needed my last name but I do have one so I figured telling you would be good cause nobody ever says their last names anymore."
"I'm- really confused." She frowns. "Is that Italian?"
The forced blank expression really made me think about what I'd just said. "I'm sorry."
"I'm a Darla- Thomas." Both of us turning to the yelling down the hallway. I just watched in shock and questioned the choice of language. "It's so calm yet so loud."
"Calm?" Darla laughs. "Yeah I mean the lack of swearing is really sending me over."
"Interesting- is that Louis?" She pushes me into the locker, just as the other door opens hitting me right on the nose.
"Oh- my god. Fuck I'm sorry. I didn't- see you. I'm sorry." I swear I saw fire for a second.
"Am I dying? Oh god this hurts so bad. I can see the stars! Oh god! Oh god I'm dying!" He shakes his head at me. Pinching the bridge of my nose. "Ow! Why do you hate me?!"
"Dude! Calm yourself. Please. Fuck me you are a special kinda special aren't you." I felt sick.
"My life is ending." I choked out. "It's really not. Your nose is bleeding though so you know maybe. Be careful."
He pushes the tissue into my nose, holding my shoulders. "You're fine."
"Do you ever think about how rats could have a really old timey New York accent?" He nods with no hesitation. "I think about that literally all the time. I mean why wouldn't they. They just look like they would."
"Right!? It's so obvious." He scoffs out a small sigh. "We're gonna be best friends."
"I'm Harry." He laughs. "I'm Evan. Sorry for- attacking you." He had such a cute little smile.
Dirty blonde hair that looked like it had copious amounts of ocean salt water dried in it. He smelt quite fresh though. And his eyes were nice. "Your eyes are pretty."
"You're so cute." I shrugged with a shy smile. "I guess." Looking at them both one after the other I just kept imagining their Halloween costumes. "What are you going as for Halloween?"
"What?" Darla frowns. "You look like the frog one- no. Wait that came out so bad hold on. The pretty on with the green dress- oh god I just- I can't even come back from that. You don't look like a frog I swear I was talking about the- Tiana!"
"I knew what you meant. Just watching you struggle with that was more fun. Hi Louis. This my other British friend, he's not as calm and collected but his hair is nicer and he has personality."
"Aww, we're friends?" She nudges my arm. "This is Louis." I nod. "His dad tried to ruin my grandmas life a couple times. Great fun."
"He did not. My god that women is dramatic-" closing his lips together I shake my head. "Do not speak badly of my grandmother. I will have your head hanging from your house before lunch."
Giving him a quick smile I move my hand back into my back pocket. "Anyway as I was saying. You should dress as princesses for Halloween."
"Magic." Darla whispered.
"Wizardry." Evan adds.
"Louis you could go as an elf." I said with a smile. "You're just not that funny. Your jokes are overused."
"You remember my jokes? Oh you are the sweetest. Although I've only ever called you an elf twice and that one time was because it was Christmas and you were wearing green."
"This is interesting. I've never seen anybody actually say anything other than hello to him before. This is wild."
"Harry you can not be mad at me for something my dad did okay. This is ridiculous." I cackle. "Your outfit choice is ridiculous. Your dad trying to, steal, an elderly women's business is atrocious. Plus you helped."
They both gasp. "Louis." He tuts, rolling his eyes. "I did not help. I mean I did but he would've done it to anybody. She's not special."
"Louis?!" Darla yells. "How dare you even say that. Nina is an angel. A god send, that women has changed lives. Your dad has stolen from the world. She's like Robin Hood if he was Asian and 5'0."
"Your dad is good at his job. I would never discredit him, I get that worked for it but like— stealing from her after that many years in business just seemed unnecessary."
"Harry don't be nice to his dad," Evan said sternly with her arms crossed. "His dad is a dick." Darla nods. "It's true."
"You two are terrible people." Louis grumbles. Evan huffs. "At least I don't steal from old ladies."
"Facts." He looks up at me like I'd said it. "Don't even try and bring me into this okay. I'm just mad. I hold a grudge tighter than a baby holding a remote."
"The analogy really makes me wonder if Nina calling you peewee brain was actually facts and not a joke."
"You are not on a first name basis with her, do not speak her name. Also... yes. It was."
