*Double Update*
It was gone. Everything was just gone. Everything that my mom left me, all of the heirlooms, even my personal items; they're just gone. I'm standing in my yard just looking at the shell that used to be my home and all I can do is cry. I scream out in pain and agony, and just pure frustration. How could this have happened? I don't know how long I stayed like that, but at some point I'm being lifted off the ground and into a pair of strong arms. Bash crushes me in a bear hug and I cry into his chest.
"It's ok love, we are going to figure out how this happened." Bash and I have been working on the same wavelength lately. He also seems to know what I'm thinking. Things have been going so great for me, for us. I guess it was a matter of time before something bad happens. Good things never last for me and with my luck something like this was bound to happen.
"What do I do now?" I managed to croak out. I don't know where I'm going to live, I can't even afford to replace a quarter of the things that I've lost. The detective said he thinks it was an electrical fire which sounded more like an excuse he was just giving because he really doesn't know.
I release a deep sigh as Bash slowly let's me go. I brushes away a stray tear with his thumb.
"Well, the first thing we do is our own investigation. I have the police chief in my pocket and I will have my own people do a full investigation of this whole property. Secondly, you are going to come stay with me." I choke on air. What did he just say?
"Bash, you can't be serious, we don't even know each other that well." He takes my hand and leads me towards the car, as I look back at the remnants of my house. I can almost hear my mom crying for her most prized possession. He opens the door for me and I quickly get in.
"Yes, I am very serious. You will stay with me until we figure out your next move. There is no way I am letting you stay anywhere else but with me. If you don't want to sleep with me that is fine, I have plenty of other rooms you can stay in." He said it with such finality and I knew not to argue it, not that I would have won it anyways. Bash always gets his way, I am slowly learning that.
Bash dials a number on his cell phone then starts up the car. Pulling out of my driveway he starts barking orders into the phone, I'm not sure who he is speaking with but I can almost assume it's Stoff.
"Get the team out to Evan's house, the place has been completely burned down. Get a hold of Chief Wiggons and get the reports that were taken this morning. I want to know how and when this fire happened and do not skimp on the details." He ends the call and places the phone in the cup holder.
"You could have said please." He quirks an eyebrow and looks over at me.
"What love?" He really doesn't know?
"You are always demanding things of everyone, but you never say please. You demand respect from everyone but shouldn't you be giving respect in return." He looks at me again, thankfully we were at a stop light. He seems to be thinking over my words and nods slowly.
"You're right, I could be a lot nicer to my people, but certain situations call for a little bit of sternness. But I will try my hardest to be nicer. Sometimes." I take his hand and smile softly.
"That's all I ask." I lean back in my seat and close my eyes. I am beyond exhausted, this feels like the longest night of my life. It's past midnight and I feel like I can sleep for a year. The night started off so great with my small dinner date with Bash. Even though that bitch Jessica showed up. She tries her hardest to get under my skin and I just won't let her.
I look over at Bash, as he focuses on the road. Time after time he has chose me. He tries his best to spoil with gifts and food, but most importantly he gives me his time. He keeps proving to me that he will always be around when I need him as long as I will have him. I really feel like I was wrong about him in the beginning.
We drive for twenty minutes before we start driving down a gravel road. Bash drives slowly, both sides of the path has nothing but trees. It's so dark and it's hard to see anything until we turn a curve and the glow of a huge mansion comes into view. From the little I can see it's beautiful here. The house dark colored with three floors, with a huge balcony on the second floor. There is a huge flower bed on both sides of the stairs but I can't tell what kind they are.
Bash pulls up in front of the house and turns to me. "Welcome home Evan." He gives me the biggest smile that I can't help but return. He slides out of the front seat and comes around to my side to open the door. He holds a hand out to me which I take as he helps me out of the car. We walk hand in hand up the stairs and through the front double doors. Standing in the foyer we stand in front of double stairs. The left leads to the second floor and the right crosses with the left stairs and leads up to the third floor.
To the left of us it leads to a living room, on the right side Bash tells me there are some offices and the kitchen. Bash leads us down to the kitchen. "Do you want a want a drink before we head upstairs?"
I nod and sigh a little. "Yes please." The kitchen is huge with two refrigerators, a gas stove and a huge kitchen island. Bash pulls out one off the seats for me and helps me up. He walks over to the fridge and pulls out a glass pitcher of orange juice. He reaches into the cabinet and pulls out two glasses pouring us both some juice. I take a sip of mine and I swear it's the sweetest orange juice I have ever had.
"Tonight I can let you wear some of my clothes and tomorrow we can go do some shopping for some things for you." I frown and open my phone checking my bank app.
"I can probably get a few things." He takes my phone and sits it on the island.
"I didn't say anything about you buying anything. I am going to take care of all of it. Save your money ok?"
"Bash I don't want you to have to take care of me." He kisses my knuckles.
"I want to take care of you, I want to take care of any and everything that you need. I'm your boyfriend, and you are my wifey, let me do my job." I can't help but to laugh and roll my eyes. I quickly finish my juice and Bash takes our glasses to the dishwasher.
He leads me up the stairs to the second floor heading down the hallway to the right of the top floor landing. Bash points out a bathroom and a library before we come to another set of double doors. He opens the doors to a beautiful room with a king size bed, to the right of the door is a desk and the left leads to another bathroom. On the other side of the room was a walk in closet which Bash goes inside of coming back out with a t-shirt and a pair of shorts.
"You can take a shower first, there are towels in the bathroom." I take the clothes and give Bash a quick kiss to his cheek. I go into the bathroom where there is an oval tub and a nice size walk in shower. I settle for the shower and start it up. The rainfall shower head feels really good. I look through all the bottles of body washes and shampoos and settle for the one the smells the most like him. His scent is always so calming and manly. I start scrubbing my hair first since it still smelled of soot and smoke. I close my eyes and let the hot water ease some of my stress.
After taking a long shower I dry off and get dress before looking for a hair brush which I don't find. My hair is going to be beyond tangled by morning. Entering Bash's room I hear him on the phone speaking to someone, I crawl into his bed and wait for him to finish. He turns to see me and gives a quick thank you and goodbye. I smile, baby steps I guess. He comes over to me and kisses my temple.
"I'm going to jump in, you can go ahead and get some sleep. I'll join you as soon as I get out." I give him a small ok and get comfortable in his bed. The sheets are so soft and his weighted blanket feels really good right now. Before I know it I'm falling asleep. I wake briefly to arms wrapping around me and I snuggle closer to him. I start to fall asleep again but not before I hear Bash whisper.
"Tomorrow is going to be better, I promise baby."
I can only hope so.
