Chapter 55: PAST ARRIVES TO THE FUTURE

Picking up where we left off, the scene shows the team had landed safely on the massive skeleton. Unknown to them, Ymir was standing far off, watching them.

Ymir: ...

The group reaches Reiner, only to find the Beast Titan he had knocked down was nothing more but a decoy.

Levi: I guess killing some empty husk isn't gonna do anything.

Armin: It's as I feared. Zeke's using the same method as the Warhammer Titan to hide himself.

Jean: You mean we have to find one tiny body in this huge mass of bones?! That's impossible! We gotta face up reality! Armin!

Armin: I know!

The others were a bit taken back by his shout, and they could see him gritting his teeth in frustration. He soon looked up in seriousness and determination.

Armin: In one minute, I'm blasting this area away. Work with the Cart Titan to get clear and make your way to Fenrir!

Mikasa: Armin...

Armin: Both Eren and Oswald know this attack could be coming. I can't imagine this'll kill either of them! But if I blow these bones apart, we might figure out where Eren or Zeke is! And this way, it'll save the explosives if we have no choice but to use them on Fenrir!

Mikasa still looked reluctant, but the others agreed on the plan and began moving away.

Connie: Be careful, Armin!

Sasha: Make your shot count!

Jean: If you get into trouble, ignore us and just go full blast!

The others leave, but Mikasa remains behind a bit until she reluctantly leaves.

Armin's Thoughts: Those who can't abandon anything can't change anything. I know that. If I don't let go, nothing will change. I can't cling to my comfortable hopes. I have to deal with Eren. And put Oswald out of his misery.

As he was in his thoughts, he wasn't aware that something was behind him. Though the steam, it looked like a mouth. He doesn't react until Mikasa sees what's about to happen.

Mikasa: Armin!

Too late. Armin was suddenly wrapped around by a tongue and pulled away. As he's pulled back, he saw Ymir watching them. His vision goes black as he's pulled in the mouth of a Titan that looked to have a body of an okapi. It turns around and begins to run away.

Mikasa: Armin!

The others look back and saw what happened. But that wasn't the end of their problems. On the spikes, various titans stood tall while they were connected to the spine. Like puppets being controlled by one master.

Sasha: You gotta be shitting me!

Connie: Here they come! Reiner!

They charge towards them, and Reiner starts fighting. The others lend a hand as they fired thunder spears. They killed a few and looked at the remains.

Jean: What the hell are these guys? (Looks at the other titans) They don't look like pure titans. That's for sure.

Connie: What do we do? We'll run out of thunder spears!

Sasha: Not to mention gas!

Connie: More importantly, is Armin alive?

Levi: The slightest injury, and he would've transformed. Which means he was captured without a scratch. But he was whisked off towards Eren's ass, with countless titans blocking our path. Even in perfect condition, I wouldn't choose to leap into that mess. So keep cool.
