Night had fallen onto the town of Kuoh, and within the darkness, a lonely Knight walked and roamed the backstreets and alleyways. Throughout this walk, he was searching for the Excalibur Fragments that he sought revenge on for what had happened to both him and his friends before he became a Devil. This search ranged all over the town, but with no luck of finding them. He had come close to three of the Fragments, one in the hands of the Rogue Priest Freed Sellzen, and two more in the hands of two female exorcists looking for all three that were said to be hidden.

Kiba found himself walking through a forest, only to stop for a breather, and get his bearings on where he should be searching. He was about to continue, only to hear the sound of someone teleporting behind him. Turning around, he saw Y/n standing in his full Vile Armor set.

"Your Grace, to what do I owe the pleasure of this meeting," Kiba asked, doing a quick bow.

"Kiba, Rias has told me about your little vendetta against the Excalibur Fragments," Y/n answered, "For this, you yourself have decided to temporarily leave the Peerage behind to pursue the Fragments that now lay hidden and wandering the town."

Kiba looked at the armored figure with a slight bit of caution, only to nod to confirm what Y/n had said.

"I can understand your need for revenge against Excalibur," Y/n sympathized, before being serious, "Even if this view of revenge is childish."

This set Kiba off, using his Sacred Gear to draw a sword and lunge for Y/n. He thrusted it up, wanting to impale Y/n in the head, only for a shield to block the incoming blade.

"Very well, I suppose a spar should vent out your anger so you can talk to me with a level head," Y/n pushed Kiba back, before summoning his Vile Blade to his right hand.

"What would you know about revenge," Kiba asked, his voice filled with anger, "Your memories are all but returned!"

Y/n sighed, lowering his blade, but keeping his eyes on Kiba, "That may be true, but I do remember this. Revenge on someone, or something, that has nothing to do with why you want revenge, will fix nothing. Someone attacked and killed my first wife. I know not who, nor their reason why. But I know this, I took my revenge on someone else that had nothing to do with it, but was responsible for involving humanity. That is the same reason for you wanting to take revenge on a sword that cannot physically conduct experiments on children."

Kiba lunged once more, making a wide swing overhead. Y/n saw the attack, but wouldn't meet it with his sword or shield. Instead, he sidestepped and tripped Kiba, before pushing him into the ground with his shield.

"You are directing your anger and need for revenge for the death of your friends out on a sword," Y/n started to yell, like a father disciplining a child, "An inanimate object and tool used to kill the wielder's foes and lead the wielder's followers into battle. How can it conduct the experiments that led to your friends' deaths?"

Kiba didn't answer, but he used his Knight Speed to get out from under Y/n's hold and stand above him, swinging down with his sword. Y/n sighed and rose the Vile Blade up behind him, blocking the incoming strike.

"Perhaps you are not seeing the point that I am making," Y/n realized.

"What do you mean," Kiba asked.

Y/n pushed up and kicked Kiba in the stomach, pushing the wind out of him.

"What I mean is, my revenge isn't over," Y/n answered, "Whoever killed my first wife, when I was Ausar, is still alive. I haven't forgotten the rage that I had felt all those centuries ago. The rage that gave birth to Ausar the Vile."

Kiba seemed surprised as Y/n continued, "I may have lost friends during the Great War, just like you did in the Holy Sword Project, but I lost something much more meaningful to me. I took my rage out on someone who was responsible, but not the one who ultimately butchered her, with my child still within her womb."
