"Poem"

Sophie had snuggled up to Keefe and demanded that he not pull away almost as soon as she'd found him, drawing in one of his journals.

He'd understood, sensing that she was upset because of the day she'd had. So, he'd curled up with her on the couch and wrapped his arms tightly around her. Stroking her hair and kissing her face.

At first, her head had rested on his shoulder, her beautiful face so close to his.

He'd spent minutes pressing soft kisses into her lips, her neck, her chin, her forehead, her jaw, making her smile so sweetly it had made his heart melt.

Then she'd curled up in his arms, burying her face in his neck.

He'd offered to watch a movie or something. But she'd refused. Saying no, and that she just wanted to cuddle her boyfriend. That had also melted his heart.

"Tell me a something," she'd eventually murmured into his shirt. He kissed her forehead.

"Tell you what?" he asked, surprised even with the drowsy feeling he was currently fighting.

"A story, or something." she said, her voice soft and small. Adorable

The request was slightly random, and he definitely hadn't expected it. But he said, "Okay."

He didn't really know any full stories. But he'd memorized a poem once. It'd stuck to his heart.

He closed his eyes, leaning his cheek against the crown of her head and stroking the arm she'd wrapped around his waist. "'Forgive me,'" he started. "'If I stumble and fall for, I know not how to love too well, I am clumsy, and my words do not form as I wish. So let me kiss you instead, let my lips paint for you all the pictures my clumsy heart cannot.'"

"I love you," she mumbled into his chest.

Keefe's heart skipped a beat.

He watched as she leaned her head back. She whispered, "And I mean it,"

He smiled a real, actual, literal smile as he kissed her.

"I love you too," he whispered, his lips brushing hers as he said it. He meant it too.
