(Phuwin)
I arrived at the airport after a long flight, stretching my arms and legs which were sore from all the sitting. I first went to grab my suitcase, then rang Palm's phone.
-„Palm?"
I asked into the phone when he picked up.
-„Yes? Are you here?"
An excited voice answers me. I chuckle.
-„Yes Palm, I am. Are you already at the airport?"
-„Of course, Nueng. Come outside, I'm parked near the entrance."Parked near the entrance? Does he now have a car or what did he mean? As soon as I stepped outside, he saw it. A brown shaded Mazda, a small car, standing near the entrance, as Palm said. My boyfriend was waving from the car, with a happy smile on his face. I slowly walk over to Palm, carefully looking at the car. It seemed to be pretty new, probably purchased some months ago.
-„Nueng!!! I was so excited to see you today, I couldn't wait anymore." Palm took his suitcase, helping me to get it inside the trunk. Then we got inside the car, Palm in front of the wheel.
-„Mhh." I only said.
-„Aren't you happy to see me too?"
Palm asked, concerned.
-„I am."Confused, Palm looked at me. That's when I couldn't pout anymore. I was curious to know everything about my boyfriend's life, he was cute when he was confused.
-„Why did you get a car? When did you buy it?"
I fired my first questions at him.
-„That's what you want to know?"
He softly chuckled.
-„I got it not too long ago. You know, the bar is running pretty good at the moment."
I nodded.
-„That's good to hear.
-„Hey, can we get Thai food? I was craving for it when I was in America! There was barely any food that actually suited my taste."Eagerly, Palm nodded.
-„Of course, anything for my boyfriend."
Then he planted a kiss on me cheek. Flustered, I pulled away. When I saw him pout a little, I stole a small kiss from his lips. He blushed a little, but I bet I blushed even more than him.
Palm started the engine, us being quiet for the whole drive even more into the city, me enjoying the landscape. I had missed it so much, everything that was in New York were big skyscrapers, streets crowded with people and cars. Wallking was very stressful, especially in the mornings and evenings. Taking the subway during that timespan was even worse.-„It's good to be back."
I told Palm, when we drove into the driveway of a typical Thai restaurant.
-„Glad to hear that. The food here is really good, are you okay with it being a little spicy?"
I laughed.
-„Sure. That's what I'm craving for anyways. We sat down at a free table, Palm chatting with the owner of the restaurant while I patiently wait for her to bring us our food.
-„Thank you. It looks delicious."
I told her when she brought it to us. She scoffed.
-„It sure is. Believe me, you won't find anything better here in the area."
I chuckled. I just missed everything about Thailand, but especially one person: Palm.I eagerly took the first bite, my tongue melting.
-„Damn, Palm, it's so dang good."
He smiled.
-„I know. That's why I took you here. Tell auntie too."
I literally put spoon after spoon in my mouth, almost forgetting to chew. Then I realised my mouth burning up, itching a little. I wanted to keep it in, not telling Palm anything, so I tried taking it slow because I knew Palm liked making fun of me not being able to handle spicy food.-„Are you okay, Nueng? You are all red."
I let my breath out.
-„Water, Palm. Give me lots of iced water.
-„Iced water, please!"
He almost screamed at a waiter.I grabbed the water, but Palm snatched it away from me. It looked so delicious, with lots of ice cubes in it despite today being not such a hot day.
-„Give me it."
I say, trying to catch my breath, feeling the spicyness in my mouth now.
-„I won't."
He chuckled.
-„Please."
-„Just give him the water, Palm."
The owner of the restaurant told him.
-„Fine, fine. Here, let me pour it for you."
I immediately grabbed the glass and gulped everything down.-„Palm."
I called, when we sat in the car again..
-„What is it, Nueng?"
I stayed still for a while before telling him what's on my mind.
-„Can we go to the beach?"
Palm chuckled, that soft chuckle from earlier again.
-„Why wouldn't we not be able to go to the beach?"
I smiled. I looked out the window throughout the whole ride again. I was almost desperate to see this nature again, a warm feeling inside my stomach when I thought about the good memories I made here in this country. I saw the beach getting closer and closer, admiring the beautiful, blue colour of the sea shining in the sun. I really missed visiting the beaches with Palm.-876 words
