Because this week has been busy af and my weekend even more (and my brain can't think of new ideas), I decided to write a short 8.75k special chap! Enjoy a cuter encounter between Chopper and Ben... (it's cliché but with a lot of flufff and detailed af writing😭)
Dear diary,
I still remember the exact day this happened.
Actually, it's long ago, and a wonder I still remember. Exactly today, one year earlier I went to the coffee shop. It was a nice spring day. The flowers bloomed with every colour. Blue, purple, pink, red, yellow... the scenery was beautiful. That day, I just had school out like five minutes earlier. It was a little windy, the grass stretched in rhythm with the wind. I remember not many people being on the street. Maybe because it was work hours. It was warmer than usual, like the temperature when the winter days had passed. I enjoy spring a lot. It's my favourite season. I remember having English, Maths and Science that day. I hated Science. Something was different that day when I went outside, I noticed that right away. Like the world suddenly felt lighter, better and stressless. Like I had nothing to worry about.
I wore that green sweater, a nice green tone with blue pants. They were a shade in between light and dark. The coffee shop I normally went to after school, had that extremely delicious iced chai tea. Honestly, the only reason I walked twenty minutes to that shop, was the iced chai tea. I put on my headphones, setting the song to „Forever" by Noah Kahan, an artist I got to know not so long ago, but a guy making great music.
With music, it the walk rather felt like five minutes in stead of twenty. It was a nice shop. Small and cozy. With lots of plants on the inside and outside, cozy seats with pillows on them. Since today was a pleasant temperature, I took a sit outside, waiting for the waitress to come. From here, you could not only have an outside view but also look inside. I watched the cashier talking to a customer while making drinks, a waitress and another waiter walking around.
I made myself comfortable - getting my wallet out of my bag. I set it down on the table, minding my own business, counting the money together. „Hey, what can I get ya?" A light and comfortable voice caught me off guard. I slowly lifted my gaze, ready to order. Then I saw him. A guy who looked more perfect than anything. „Uhm..." I just stuttered, amazed buy the waiter. He wasn't very tall, maybe just a bit than myself. He wore a low hanging earring on his right ear, it was silver. He had black hair with brown dye in it, slowly fading. He had those dark eyes - intimidating and with strong expressions in it, full of joy.
I cleared my throat, finally being able to tell him what a wanted to have as he looked at me with a questioning look. „One iced chai tea, please." I croaked out. My throat suddenly felt dry as hell, I sounded like a frog. It was so so embarrassing. When he brought my drink, I said thank you and we exchanged a way too long gaze I shouldn't have read into too much. My heart was pounding really fast, I was trying to calm myself down with taking some sips of my drink. I drank slower than usual, just to watch him a little more.
When I finally finished, I slowly packed my things. I walked up to him, thanking him for the drink and telling him how delicious it was. „Oh really? I'm so happy to hear that! I made it myself. It's my second day here." He told me with that warm and welcoming voice. I had to smile at that - „It was really good, don't worry!" And with that, I said goodbye and slowly walked out the door. Suddenly, the world felt even lighter. It felt like it was soaked with happiness - everyone having a good time, the sun shining even brighter, the flowers looking even more beautiful.
What a good day, was what I thought when I came home. I nuzzled myself against the bed sheets. But when would I ever get the chance to see him again?
Well, guess what. The next time I went there, he wasn't there. And the week after neither. And not the week after that week.
Ben
