"Throw, throw! Throw it!"

In the outer courtyard, the atmosphere around a group of men gathered in one place was chaotic. A man spinning two wooden pieces with thick hands intensified the already lively atmosphere.

"Curses! Someone's life is on the line! Hurry up and throw!"

Another man, unable to contain himself, shouted. Soon, three wooden pieces fell onto a mat woven from straw. The combined total of engraved dots on them was sixteen, the highest count so far.

The man who threw the pieces clenched his fist and roared triumphantly, while the others sighed in awe.

"Hey, darn it! Today, luck is not on my side."

"Pay up, pay up."

The men who lost in the bet grumbled as they reluctantly tossed coins one by one. Suddenly, one of them exclaimed "Hey!" and, in a fit of temper, overturned the mat.

"What the heck is this nonsense? Who does this rude bastard think he is?"

"Uh, well, he doesn't want to pay shit, so he's throwing a tantrum over it."

Insults were hurled at the man who overturned the mat. However, he pretended to dig his finger in his ear and then spat on the ground.

"Ah, not even fun. I'm out. Have fun, folks."

"If you're out, you should've dropped out sooner. Pay up and leave, you bastard!"

"I dropped out; why should I pay?"

With a snort, the man hurriedly left, as the others continued to curse at him.

"I knew he'd do something like that. That darn guy the tiger will chew up."

"Yeah, I told him not to mess with that guy. Hasn't he been slapped around a couple of times?"

"He probably didn't have any money anyway. If he had any, he'd be spending it on women. Worthless, just like dog fur."

Despite the accusations, the one in question, Dongchi, didn't care. He was satisfied with having preserved his money. The guy who left the entertainment area sat on the veranda of a nearby house, gazing up at the damp sky.

"Tsk, it started raining all of a sudden. It's already dull enough."

Most of the men in the outer courtyard, including Dong-chi, were usually engaged in fieldwork. Therefore, during the farming season, they were relentlessly busy, but in times like these when there was little agricultural work, they resorted to gambling to pass the time.

Moreover, with the absence of Mr. Cho, who was lying down in the room, there was no need to pay attention to him, so he became more lazy.

"Fuck. I was supposed to win some money."

The weather today seems dreary, making my body feel restless. On such days, spending time with a woman to lift the spirits seems fitting, but sadly, I don't have the money to visit the brothel.

Traders are generally sly. They are kind when you have money, but without it, they treat you as if you don't exist. While the aristocrats could at least extend credit based on social status, there was no mercy for the lowly folks working in the brothels.

Dong-chi reminisced about a few months ago when he used to enjoy the voluminous body of a prositute he had been frolicking with. At that moment, he spotted a maid walking with a basket in the distance.

"Oie, girl!"

At Dong-chi's call, the maid turned around. Dong-chi grinned suggestively, scratching his dick as if to flaunt.

"Wanna come to my room for a moment? Aren't you bored downstairs? I will soothe you in my stead"

The maid's face stiffened at the disgusting attempt at flirtation.

However, dealing with men like Dong-chi here was useless. The maid knew all too well that ignoring such worthless men was the best options.

Sending a disdainful glance, the maid clicked her tongue, and Dong-chi, feeling embarrassed, said awkwardly

"Damn bitch. If you don't like it, just say so, instead of pretending to be so innocent..."

Dong-chi grumbled as he promptly retreated to his room. Despite his talent for harassing people, he lacked the courage to back it up. Seeing him scurry away, the maid muttered.

"Worthless guy. If you have nothing to do, at least tidy up your room."

The building used by the male servants always carried a foul odor. While it was customary, the stench had worsened recently due to the lack of someone overseeing it.

Even though she was some distance away, the maid covered her nose with her fingers and continued walking. Her steps along the courtyard led her near the southern gate.

Suddenly, with a creaking sound, the gate swung open inward.

"Oh my!"

Startled, the maid jumped. It was unexpected, as the gate wasn't something that opened often. Gradually, someone revealed themselves from within the now-open gate.

The woman's eyes, upon seeing the person, quickly filled with terror. She dropped the basket, sinking to the ground.

"You... Young Master!"
