Around noon, Chae Ga-won's servants were having lunch in an atmosphere heavier than usual. The subdued mood was due to the news spreading about their master's return.
Even though Chae Yoon-sa had departed early in the morning, the household had witnessed all the commotion that occurred during his absence.
The theft alone would have posed an issue, but the gravity heightened as the cherished servant committed a crime and fled.
Young master couldn't just let this pass and everyone anticipated a storm of reprimands.
When more than two servants gathered, those who had previously been chattering away now maintained silence, diligently focusing on their lunch.
It was a situation similar to the eerie calm before a storm.
Eventually, a maid rushed into the courtyard and shouted
"Young Master, he's here!!"
As if choreographed, everyone set down their spoons and briskly moved towards the large courtyard.
A sense of calm before the storm settled over the scene.
Yohwan who had been waiting in the large courtyard, greeted Chae Yoon-sa with a bow
"Welcome back, Young Master."
Chae Yoon-sa acknowledged his greeting and asked
"How's the aftermath?"
"To prevent any issues, we burned everything. But..."
Before Yohwan could inquire about where he had been, his gaze fell upon Eun-oh, who was still hanging from the horse saddle, and he swallowed his words.
"I've heard about the situation. It's fortunate that you found him safely."
"I need to wash up."
"I'll prepare for that. Let me convey the message."
Chae Yoon-sa went up alone, leaving Eun-oh behind. Eun-oh, seemingly lifeless and motionless until then, descended quietly, standing on the ground.
Yohwan approached him.
"You should go inside too."
"But Yeoul hasn't arrived yet..."
Eun-oh mumbled, fingers fidgeting. Following closely, Yeoul wasn't in sight. Although he probably would find his way back smartly, the absence of his presence caused worry.
"He's a clever one, he'll find his way back. When he returns, I'll take care of him. Now, go and see the Young Master."
"Yes..."
After answering, Eun-oh, who had been hesitating, finally asked cautiously.
"Uh, what about Kang-hee?"
Eun-oh, hesitant to lift his head, harbored a fear of locking eyes with Kang-hee.
The real concern, beyond the Young Master was Kang-hee. Since he had returned like this, Kang-hee wouldn't leave him alone.
"He's not feeling well. He's probably resting in his quarters."
"Ah... yes. I understand."
Is it a matter of relief or something to be lamented? Either way, time was ticking. Despite the situation, Eun-oh wasn't at ease.
It wasn't just a matter of physical discomfort, his silence was more than that. The looming threat of Kang-hee unveiling his true identity hung overhead, creating a precarious situation. And knowing that, Eun-oh felt stifled with no immediate options.
