The hooves pounded on the damp ground as two black horses swiftly crossed the open field.

Leading the charge was Chae Yoon-sa.

Ever since his departure from Chae Ga-won, he had consistently shown his true power. Without a single moment of pause, he mounted the horse toward the destination. Following closely behind was Yohwan, maintaining a steady distance.

Their path led to Gangju, an autonomous district in the Western province, situated east of the capital city, Changhyun. Surrounded by vast mountain ranges, Gangju was known for its fortress-like topography and its challenging accessibility due to its elevated position.

Hence, Yohwan found it puzzling.

Why Gangju?

In reality, the destination Chae Yoon-sa had mentioned before they set out was not Gangju but rather an abandoned village near Seriwon.
Seriwon was a significant mining region, so Yohwan had a rough idea of its location. Therefore, he knew they couldn't possibly be heading in that direction-it was precisely the opposite.

As they approached Gangju, Yohwan's suspicion deepened. He dismissed the notion that his Young Master might be lost or had taken a wrong turn; it was undoubtedly intentional. So, why?

Passing through the plains, the long city walls surrounding the town came into view. The first place they sought upon entering the city was a run-down inn.

"Young Master, this place seems quite shabby. Are you sure it's suitable?"

As they settled on a rickety table that looked on the verge of collapsing, Yohwan expressed his displeasure. Though he understood his master's didn't shy away from outdoor lodgings due to his prolonged time on the battlefield, he questioned the necessity of choosing a shabby tavern in a city full of better options.

"This place is more useful for gathering information."

It wasn't just about quenching their thirst and filling their stomachs; there was a specific purpose for being here.

Yohwan's expression became more serious.

"If you have any specific information you need, feel free to ask."

"We'll find out soon enough."

At that moment, the innkeeper appeared.

"Welcome! What can I get for you?"

In response to the innkeeper's inquiry, Chae Yoon-sa took out a pouch from his pant and placed it on the table with a solid thud, indicating a considerable amount of money within.

The innkeeper's eyes gleamed as he scrutinized Chae Yoon-sa. One could surmise that he had been running this establishment for quite some time, and at least the financial aspect seemed to have flourished. His keen perception hinted at the changes in this town.

"Oh, come on, no need to go to such lengths. Just tell me what you want. I'll lay out everything I know."

In response to the innkeeper's flattery, Chae Yoon-sa wasted no time in stating his request.

"Songcheon Peak."
