Season 1 Episode 23

Aya POV

I was blinded by a little sun beam that came through the window and struck the ring's diamond gem, despite my incessant looking.

"Merry Christmas." Darius morning rough voice said, she pecked my forehead, and I looked up to discover she was already clothed.

"How come you didn't wake me up?" I moaned as I got out of bed.

"You, my lady, were asleep, and I was assisting your mother and sisters in the kitchen."

This has to be a Christmas miracle. Darius Horus was assisting in the kitchen.

"They let you help?"

"I know how to cook. Back at home, I prepare my own meals. Sure, I'm not a Michelin-starred chef, but I can cook."

I smiled, but my grin faded as I realized I had yet to share something with her. It determined that I would most likely do so after taking a shower.

Following the shower...

Darius was sprawled over the bed, having just emerged from a warm shower. "I had no idea it took so much effort in the kitchen these days of years."

I giggled as I dried my hair with the towel while holding the next one closer to my body. "Normally, I avoid coming into the kitchen, but as you can see, I compromised for cleaning." I am aware that I will still need to provide a hand. They were doing a variety of dishes, each of which took a significant amount of time.

I delved inside my luggage for my holiday sweater, which features a giant embroidered adorned Christmas tree in the front and a happy Santa Claus on the back.

"That is the most ludicrous sweatshirt I've ever seen." Darius whispered her response. "It's cute," I tossed my sock to her. I pouted.

I slipped on my underwear, but didn't put on my jeans, which was already laid out.

I reached inside my suitcase's pocket, where I had snatched the tiny present box. I didn't want it mixed in with the others.

I tucked the package behind my back as I approached Darius; she sat up and drew me down onto her lap.

I may be dreaming, and I hope I was, but her eyes were a lovely calm grey rather than the steely steel I had seen just a few days before. Is she pleased as a result of this?

"I want to establish this connection on the basis of honesty and transparency." She hadn't seen I had the package behind my back. "I don't want to keep anything from you. I wasn't sure at first, but it occurred, and I don't want to go back."

Her brow furrowed with worry, I pecked it, and she immediately relaxed. "Here." I said as I carefully drew the present from behind my back and handed it to her. My pulse was pounding since I wasn't sure if she'd appreciate what she saw.

"What exactly is this?" She whispered as she took the present with care. "I didn't want to do it in front of everyone." I simply wanted it to be just the two of us. As a precaution..." I began to ramble.

She gradually peeled away the red and green paper wrapping, revealing a cream-colored box. I had to order the box since I didn't want to bring the item in for them to wrap because it would have been too awkward.

She removed the pregnancy test from the packaging. I gulped as my heart rate soared and I began sweating furiously. Her brows wrinkled in uncertainty at first. "Are you going to utilize it right away?" She inquired.

I couldn't stop laughing at her innocence. "Take a look at the lines." The test revealed the distinct lines to show if you are pregnant or not. I couldn't see the line at first, but as the minutes passed, the second line, which was blue, became evident.

She gazed at it, her gaze shifting to my tummy, then back to the test. Her lips curved into a smile, and before I knew it, she had me in her grasp. We reverted to the bet.

Her face pressed into my neck, and her arms clasped me gently.

I notice tears wrinkled beneath her eyes as she gently pulls away. "You're not furious, are you?"

"Why would I be upset, Butterfly?" This is the most wonderful gift I've ever received." She murmured as she pecked various places of my body until she reached my stomach, where she raised the shirt and kissed around it. "My baby is there. Can you hear what I'm saying?"

"It's not just a little pea, it can't hear you as yet." I laughed.

"I can't want to meet her."

I cocked my brow. Her gorgeous eyes raised to stare at me, sparkling brightly like a star at night. "What?" She inquired, her smile broaden.

"How do you it's a girl, what if it's a boy."

"It's possible. It makes no difference; as long as it comes from you, he or she will be the most precious little human."

I flushed and said, "Very cheezy."

She gradually leaned forward until our faces were almost touching. "I aspire to be the best mother I can be."

"You will"

Her grin faded, and I could feel doubt creeping in, so I urged her to look at me and said, "You will be the best mother in the world. We've got nine months to sort it out." I drew her in for a kiss. "I love you." I muttered. My lips pursed in a sweet grin, as my confession caused her eyes to widen.

With one hand she held my face, the other held my hand with the ring on it, and she kissed me, saying, "After all these years, I really don't know what I would do without you. When you quit. That's when I knew that I had to follow you because I couldn't let you slip away from me."

My heart softened as I pressed her to me, determined to hold onto this moment until the very end, even after years of marriage.

"I love you so much. You've given me a lot to look forward to, and thanking you would be insufficient."

"Telling me and showing me you love me is enough... plus the costly diamond on my ring." I laughed as we both stared at the ring.

"Will we inform your family?" She inquired.

I shook my head, "Not yet." I simply wanted things to remain between us for the time being.

"Butterfly," she said softly.

"Yeah."

"Best Christmas ever."
