Katara
I woke up to the sound of a loud alarm going off in the room I was in. The lights flashed on a second later and I groaned as multiple women rushed out of their beds and started getting ready.
"Up Katara, you're in charge of bringing the Princess her breakfast and morning tea". Chun the head maid who was mentoring me said. I looked at her confused as I sat up. "Is she not eating with her brother and father"?
"His Majesty isn't allowing it for her safety nor does Her Highness feel safe coming out of her room". "I understand".
I made my way to the kitchen as fast as I could. Multiple people rushed passed me going out of this room or that one. Some carrying hair brushes, others plates or glasses. Once inside the kitchen, I looked around the room as everyone kept their focus on the station they were at while the head chef barked orders.
Servants came in taking food out as soon as it was finished and before I knew it a tray of food was placed in my hands with a cup of hot tea on it. "Katara right, this is for the princess go quickly". One of the female chefs said before scooting me out of the room.
I paid no mind to it, this was a palace and I'm more than sure the staff here had a sechudel they needed to keep to. I held onto the tray firmly as I carefully walked through the hallways. The closer I made it to the princess's chambers the fewer people I saw.
There were two female servants I saw walking down the hall from her room but I paid no mind to that as well it was none of my business. I was only here to find my parent's killer and to eliminate the king.
"Servant". I stopped in my tracks and turned to see the prince's fiancee glaring at me. I had no idea why she would be mad at me. I hadn't done her anything nor have I talked with her yet.
"Yes ma'am"? "Your Highness". I looked at her confused. "I am Prince Zuko's fiancee you will address me as your Highness". "Yes, Your Highness". I bowed to her making sure I didn't drop the tray or any of the food or tea on it.
"Better, now tell me why your heading towards Princess Azula's bedroom". "Prince Zuko has put me in charge of seeing that she has everything she needs. He knows she's scared and wants her to have as much support as possible".
Without warning she took the tray out of my hands. "I'm one of her best friends. I'll see to it that Ty Lee and I give her all the support she needs. Go make yourself useful somewhere else". She gave me one last harsh look before walking off.
Whose Ty Lee
Azula
I said nothing as I laid my head down in Ty Lee's lap while her fingers gently ran through my hair. She had arrived early this morning coming in through the window as always. I wasn't expecting any visitors. I didn't want any but having her here was comforting in a way. She reminded me that I still have one good friend I can rely on.
"Has anyone told you anything"? "No, I have no idea what's going on or who it is that's after me. My father hasn't come by to check on me and I would rather Zuko not involve himself in this. I don't know what I'd do if he ever got hurt because of me".
"Zuzu's your big brother it's his job to protect his precious little sister". She smiled. "I know". There was a knock at the door. I said nothing as the door opened and Mei walked in holding a tray of food.
"Your here Ty Lee"? "Mhm, I came here as soon as the sun was in the sky. I had to. Come in through the window because I wasn't sure the hot bodyguard outside would let me in". "I see. I have breakfast for you Azula". "I don't want any". I mumbled.
"A Princess needs to eat to stay healthy". "Would you want to eat after someone tried to kill you"? "I would be cautious of my surroundings but also continue to live my life. Your are surrounded by guards, you have your own personal bodyguard. You are literally the safest person on the planet right now".
"Yet and still if it wasn't for Sokka I would be dead. This so-called army failed to protect me". I looked at her sternly. "So you're going to hide in your room like a coward? You disgrace the crown and your father". She glared back at me.
"You're not helping anything Mei. Azula needs the support of her friends right now". "What she needs to do is show her citizens that she won't allow anyone to scare her". "It's ok to be weak sometimes". "Not when your royalty. She knows that better than anyone". Were the last words she spoke before storming out. Ty Lee immediately took me into her arms.
Sokka
I could hear them clearly. I could hear all the awful things lady Mei was saying to her while her friend Ty Lee did her best to be a comforting voice of reason. I hated it. All I wanted to do was go in there and defend her but knew I couldn't.
I was her personal guard. My job is to keep her safe not get close to her or get into matters that don't concern me. I'm not even supposed to know about the conversation they're having but I do. I do and I hate it. I hate not being able to help her.
The door to her room opened and I stood still with my gaze focused forward. Lady Mei came out clearly pissed off. I watched as she clenched and unclenched her fists before taking in a deep breath and turning towards me. Her eyes were stern, ferocious even.
"How did Ty Lee manage to get into her bedroom? You're supposed to be protecting her". "Her higness informed me that Ty Lee was a close friend just as you are. She deemed her safe and I also deemed her safe after discovering she held no weapons on her".
"She came in throw the window". "And I rushed in right away. That's when both her and Princess Azula explained to be what was going on and I checked her". I could tell she wanted to yell at me for allowing Ty Lee to be in there but knew she couldn't. Instead, she grumbled before storming off.
