Rose and I looked up at the Webber's house to see an orange glow coming from Chloe's bedroom window. We both jumped into action, running up to the front door. I reached for the knob just as the door slammed shut of its own accord. I grabbed it, trying to pull it open, but it wouldn't budge.
"TRISH! CHLOE!" I screamed, already spotting Trish's face through the window.
"The door's stuck!" She shouted.
"Is the Doctor in there?!" Rose asked.
"I don't think so!"
"Mummy!" Chloe cried.
"I'M COMING TO HURT YOU!" The voice growled from inside.
"Please Dad, no more!"
"CHLOE!"
"Chloe, listen to me!' Rose shouted. "It isn't real like the others! Its just energy left over by the Isolus, but you can get rid of it, Chloe!"
"Help us!' Trish screamed.
I pressed myself against the as an idea popped into my brain.
"SING!" I screamed, slapping the door. "The song, the kookabara song, you have to sing it to her! Your fear is making it real, just like before, you have to calm down! Its just a nightmare, Chloe!"
"Mummy!"
"You can do it, Chloe!"
"I can't!"
"CHLOE! I'M COMING!"
"SHE NEEDS HER MUM, TRISH!" I screamed. "SHOW YOUR LITTLE GIRL SHE ISN'T ALONE ANYMORE! SING TO HER!"
"I'm with you, Chloe," Trish said, their voices sinking down, leading me to believe they were sitting on the floor, "You're not alone. You'll never be alone again!"
"Sing, Chloe!" Rose and I shouted in unison.
"Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree, Merry merry king of the bush is he."
"CHLOE!"
"Laugh, kookaburra, laugh, kookaburra, gay your life must be. Laugh, kookaburra, laugh, kookaburra, gay your life must be."
The light and the voice began to fade, and Trish and Chloe's fearful singing voices begun to sound more peaceful and relaxed.
"Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree, Merry merry king of the bush is he. Laugh, kookaburra, laugh, kookaburra, gay your life must be. Laugh, kookaburra, laugh, kookaburra, gay your life must be."
Rose sunk down, sitting with her back against the door and letting out a sigh of relief as it all went quiet again. I pressed my hands against the door, leaning my forehead against it.
I heard a sniff, and looked down to see that Rose was crying.
"Rose...I'm sure he's just...tidying up lose ends." I told her, my own anxiety rising up as I realized how long he'd been gone.
"Who's gonna hold his hand now?" She asked. I bit my lip as she reached up, grabbing my hand in hers.
I pulled her to her feet, trying the door again. It opened, and we walked inside to find Chloe and Trish hugging standing in front of the TV, which showed a stadium that was once again full of people.
"...they disappeared; they've come back. They were gone, they've reappeared, this is quite incredible. But Bob, this will certainly prompt-"
"80,000 people, so where's the Doctor?" Rose asked. "We need him!"
