I walked into my closet looking for something nice to wear. It was my first day of school and I wanted to show people a new me. Everything in my closet was too plain and I wanted something fashionable to wear.

"Dad!" I called.

"Yes Bubbles?" He asked.

"Does Natalie have clothes I could borrow?" He came upstairs to where my room was and looked at me questionably.

"Why do you need clothes? You have a whole closet full of 'em."

"Dad, I want to have a better school experience and these clothes arent gonna help," I said holding up a mascara stained sweater from me crying into it. He pinched the bridge of his nose and sighed.

"Okay, let me call her." He pulled out his phone and went into the hallway. I sat on my bed and looked out the window. Austin's house was right across the street and I could see into his bedroom, but I was not stalking him. As he was getting ready for school he turned and looked me right in my eyes and smiled. I turned away and instantly felt awkward. After he asked me out and I said no he had shrugged and walked into his house, leaving me confused. He left his room and at that exact moment my dad came in and smiled.

"She's on her way with something appropriate." He said. I sighed and laid down on my bed.

"Dad, do you like to ruin my life or is it just a hobby? I asked sarcastically. He sighed and sat down on my bed and stroked my newly straightened hair.

"Bubs, I dont want you growing up too fast, neither did your mom. We love you more than everything and we don't want you to get pregnant and have a child at sixteen while in school.." He said, half jokingly. I nudged him and rolled my eyes.

"Dad, not funny!" I said. He chuckled and put his arm around my shoulder.

"No but seriously, nothing inappropriate and no boyfriends, you know my rule."

"No dating unless I meet the boy. . . or girl." I repeated. He laughed and pulled me off the bed.

"Natalie is here. Let's get you dressed, you're almost late." He opened the door and outside was Natalie and. . . Austin.

"Uh. . I was wondering if you wanted me to take you to school so you aren't nervous or anything." He said as fiddling with his fingers. My dad looked at him, then back at me.

"Bubbles?" My dad asked sternly. I winced at him calling me by my nickname in front of Austin. Austin looked up at me and raised an eyebrow. He mouthed 'Bubbles?' and smirked at me without my dad seeing.

"Well, I gotta go get dressed for school, let's go Nat!" I said grabbing Natalie's hand and dragging her upstairs to my room. I had left Austin and my dad downstairs and I knew I was gonna regret it. I closed my door and looked at a dazed Natalie.

"What do you have?" I asked looking through her bag. She laughed and sat on my bed. I pulled out a cheetah pencil skirt and a black blouse.

"Perfect!" I shouted.

"I thought you'd like it." She said. I pulled my clothes off, leaving my underwear on and I threw on the clothes. I put my black flats on and did a little spin for Natalie to see.

"How do I look?" I asked.

"Beautiful."

"Thanks, I gotta go, bye!" I ran out of my room, grabbed my bag and went downstairs. My dad was still talking to Austin and I walked right into their conversation.

"Well dad, I gotta go so I'm not late so, bye!" I said closing the door behind me and Austin. I started walking when Austin grabbed my hand and it caught me off guard bad that I jumped. He laughed and pulled me into his chest. I was so stunned that I had no time to react.

"Hey Bubbles, why don't you like me?" He asked, smirking. I pulled away from his chest and looked up at him angrily.

"What's your problem, eh?" I asked, my Canadian accent coming through. He put his hand on my cheek and stroked it.

"Girls usually don't say no to me and when you said no it caught me off guard and I didn't know what to do but now, I feel you're the only one I truly want to date." He said very seriously. I turned away from him and kept walking. I really liked the kid but my past experiences with boys has taught me to never trust them. Especially cute, popular ones, like Ryan. He was the star hockey player and the hottest guy in school. Thats why when he asked me to the Spring Fling I was shocked. I had my whole dress ready and I was waiting for him and he picked me up in a limo. Ryan kissed my cheek and told me this would be an awesome night and I believed him. At the dance they voted him king and when I got called on stage everyone threw trash at me and poured pig guts on me. I was humiliated. I ran home crying and took the longest shower ever, and I never trusted boys again.

"Hello? Earth to Bubbles!" Austin said snapping his fingers in my face.

"What happened that made you say no to me?" He asked opening the school door for us. There were a bunch of teenagers socializing with each other and laughing and I instantly felt alone in this crowded school.

"Can we not talk about it?" I mumbled walking to the office. He nodded and followed me. A couple of people looked at me and smiled others looked at me and winked. I kept my head up and walked to the office, waving at a few people. A boy with straight brown hair and brown eyes came up to Austin and high fived him then looked at me and smiled.

"Hey Austin, who's this?" He asked motioning to me. Austin put his arm around my shoulder and grinned.

"This is my girlfriend Lilian." He said. I removed his arm from me and took a step away from him. His friend laughed and looked at me.

"Lilian, that's a nice name." He said.

"Thanks, but everyone calls me Lily and your name is?"

"Alex. Where you from?"

"Canada." I said.

"Well, Alex I'll meet with you later, I'm gonna help her with schedules and stuff." Austin said. Alex nodded and went to class. Austin and I went to the office and got my schedule, which Austin snatched out of my hand to point out the classes we had together, and my locker number and combination.

"Let's go to your locker and then on to chemistry." He said. We went to my locker and I put my make up bag into it.

"Let's  go." I said. We strolled into chemistry together and all eyes were on us.

"Mr. Greene, this is Lilian Fox, she's new and from Canada." I smiled at the teacher and the students they all smiled back and I felt much better.

"Nice to meet you Lilian, welcome to 11th grade chemistry, go ahead and sit anywhere you'd like." He said. I took a seat near Austin. While listening to the teacher, plenty of students said hi to me and tried to have conversations with me. I loved school already.

"How was your first day of school?" My dad asked when I walked through the door from my first day. I gave him a kiss on the cheek and a giant hug.

"Amazing! Thanks for moving for me." I said. He hugged me back and kissed the top of my head.

"Anything for my little Bubbles." He said. My first day ended with me having 5 invitations to parties, 20 new numbers and about 100 new friends. I love America.
