"Lily, are you okay?" Robert asked me immediately after shutting and locking the door.
My eyes were wide and unblinking when I nodded my head. I knew he knew I wasn't okay.
"How did you know?" I asked him quietly.
He smiled a little. "Justin called me and asked me to come over to watch over you."
Thank you so much Justin, I thought to myself. He was such a good cousin for that.
"Thank God you came, I didn't know what Austin would've done if you hadn't come over." I mumbled.
Robert bit his lip nervously before looking over my shoulder. "What're you watching?" He asked, clearly trying to change the subject.
I inhaled then exhaled quite loudly before answering him. "Maury."
His whole expression brightened and he smiled, making me smile. "I love that show!" He said
"You do?" I tilted my head to the side.
He continued to beam. "Yes I do."
I placed my hand gently in his, intertwining our fingers before walking into the living room and sitting on the couch. I had no intention of releasing our hands from their tangled state and neither did Robert. We sat a foot apart from each other, our hands being the only things connected.
I unmuted the TV and sat back, Robert doing the same. I took a handful of Nutella popcorn with my free hand and began eating it.
"What's that on top of the popcorn?" Robert asked.
I smiled at him before holding out some of the popcorn. "Try it, you'll like it."
He cautiously took a few pieces out of my hand, popping them into his mouth. I stared at him with a smile on my face. His face was full of confusion as he chewed.
"Is it chocolate or something?"
I licked some Nutella off my finger. "Or something." I told him. He smiled and took a handful of his own.
"Natasha is a single mother of an adorable pair of twin girls, both born with difficulties. Natasha has had to pay for all the hospital bills and take care of both premature babies while the babies' father, Daniel, uses his money to go out drinking and gambling." Maury explains to the booing crowd.
"That's messed up." Robert and I said together.
We looked at each other before bursting out in laughter. After our little laugh I continued to stare at him as he watched Maury.
After a minute he realized I was staring at me so he looked at me and smiled. "Yes?"
I got up from my spot on the couch and walked over to him. He looked at me confused before he understood that I wanted to sit on his lap like I had at his house. He opened his arms, letting me sit on his lap comfortably and then wrapped his arms around my waist.
"Thank you so much." I whispered.
"No problem." He mumbled.
We sat and continued watching a few more episodes of Maury before the Nutella popcorn was completely eaten. I paused the show and got up off of Robert's comfortable lap. I walked into the kitchen, Robert following behind me.
"I have a craving for brownies, how about you?" I asked him.
He smiled. His smile was contagious. "Brownies sound amazing right now."
"I need help though, I'm not very good at doing something like baking by myself." I said, reaching for a box of brownie mixture.
"Of course." He saw I was having trouble reaching for the box so he stretched his arm just a bit, grabbed the box and handed it to me with a smirk.
