Third Person POV
"What if you home school her? She would get to stay here and you wouldn't have to worry about any of those people at her school." Austin said.
Mr. Fox looked deep in thought as he considered this. Maybe it could work out. He did sell their old house so there was no way of getting it back. And his business here in America is well needed and good pay.
"That's a great idea but first, we have to see if she likes the idea too. I mean she probably won't want to stay here if it has so many horrible memories," Justin quietly added. Austin glared at Justin. He was not helping anything. But he was right.
"True," Mr. Fox sighed before rubbing his temples, throbbing with stress. "Why don't we go see Lily then we can go home and have some sleep?" Justin and Austin nodded their heads as they followed Mr. Fox to the elevator. He pressed a button labeled '3' and the elevator doors closed. They all sat in silence as they waited to hear the ding of the elevator.
Once the ding of the elevator sounded, the doors opened and they saw doctors walking around, along with nurses who wheeled around carts filled with various items.
"Her room is this way," Mr. Fox informed the two guys. Following his lead, the three of them ended up in a room labeled '3E'. Walking in, they saw two beds with two different bodies. One had bandages on their face while the other had a clean, bearded face.
Justin began sniffling as he realized that his little cousin was the one with a bandaged face. He stumbled over to her and reached out to touch her face. Only one eye was exposed while every feature of her face was unrecognizable, covered in bandage. Austin couldn't go to her, he would break down if he was a foot from her.
He looked down at the floor as tears welled up in his eyes. He promised that he would protect her but here she was, in a coma because he failed to keep his promise.
She died and left for awhile. What if she stayed gone? It would've been hell trying to live through the guilt.
Maybe it was a good idea that she move away. She could start fresh with some other people. Meet a nice boy who would really protect her.
Tears slipped and fell from his eyes onto the hard tiled floor. He grudgingly wiped the remaining tears from his face and looked at her face. Her eye was closed and her beautiful eyelashes stuck out from the bandages. He wished that he could've done more to protect her.
He began to walk to the door, not looking back to say goodbye or tell anyone where he was going. Right before he could walk out though, Mr. Fox stopped him.
"Where are you going Austin? Mr. Fox asked him. Austin looked at his love's father and knew he failed him. It killed him inside to think that he was entrusted with a beautiful girl and now look where she ended up, in a coma fighting for her life.
"I need to go, my mom is gonna get mad at me for leaving the house while I'm grounded. I'll try to come over later but I'll need to ask permission first." Austin walked out of the room, down the hallway and into the elevator. He traveled down to the first floor of the hospital in silence. When he walked out, he had seen Penny and her mother weren't there anymore. They must've gone to get Penny tested.
Leaving the hospital, he thought back to the first day he laid eyes on Lily. She was incredibly stunning. Her long, flowing hair rested gently on her back, her blue eyes shown through thick eye lashes, and her kiss-ably soft lips were glossed and smiling.
Why would I give that up? Why would I hurt her and make her upset? If only my mother knew the way I was treating women, especially Lily, she'd be incredibly disappointed. I have to find a way to make things better.
