I stared at Austin as he smiled and handed me the rose.

I stared at his hand as he frowned. "What's wrong? Everything alright?" he stepped over to me, placing his hand under my chin. I looked into his bluish-green eyes as he licked his lips. His eyes held a lot of worry and... guilt?

I shrugged as I removed his incredibly soft hand from under my chin. "Just a little bummed, I found out a lot at Faith's house."

Austin stiffened. "Like what?" he asked, seeming worried and anxious.

I shook my head. "It's not my business to discuss it."

"Anything... about me?" he asked curiously as his hand found mine.

I looked down at our tangled hands, slightly confused. "No, why would something be about you?" I questioned.

He looked at me wide eyed before looking away and mumbling something I couldn't hear.

"What's up Austin?" Justin asked over my shoulder. He could tell something wasn't right because of my behavior, that's why I love him.

Austin looked at Justin briefly before shaking his head, as if he were trying to clear his mind. "Nothing, just came by to hang out with Lily and see if she wanted to go out later tonight." he said, directing the last part toward me instead of Justin, a hopeful gleam in his eyes.

"Well, that would be entirely up to her, and her dad." Justin explained. I cringed. My father would not allow me to go out, especially with Austin.

"Uh.. well..." as I was struggling to give him an answer my dad's black Mercedes pulled into the driveway. Austin glanced over his shoulder as did I to see my dad and Natalie exit the car. They've been spending a lot of time together recently.

My dad grabbed Natalie's hand gently and brought it up to his mouth to place a kiss on her knickle, a smile forming on both of their faces. I hadn't realized my father had a dimple.

My dad's smile faded when he saw Austin, Justin and I staring at them. He cleared his throst as his cheeks began to redden. His hand still in Natalie's. "Can I help you?" he asked, a smile dancing upon his features.

I giggled softly, earning a grin from Austin. "You're just like teenagers," I complained jokingly.

He chuckled quietly as Natalie hid her face in embarrassment.

The atmosphere soon became dull and my dad urged us all to go inside before it got cold. We all did.

Even though it wouldn't, it was eighty degrees tops.

I guess he's still used to Canadian weather.

We all went into the living room and planted our butts on the L-shaped leather couch we had.

Natalie next to dad, me next to Austin and Justin in the middle of the two couples.

I kind of felt bad for him.

Kind of.

"So," my dad said, interrupting the silence. "what's new?"

Austin's hand found mine and entangled our hands before biting his lip. "I was wondering if I could have permission to take your daughter on a date." he said nervously.

My dad looked at Justin then Natalie before he sighed. "It's okay with me, just as long as I know where, when, and Justin needs to supervise."

"What?!" Justin and I asked loudly.

"Uncle Andy, I have a life, I can't babysit them!" Justin argued.

"Oh, so you suddenly have a life?" my dad asked, a smirk on his smug face. Wow, he could be a rude person. At least I know where I don't get it from.

Justin pouted with his arms crossed over his chest, mumbling some inaudible words.

It was my turn to argue. "But Daddy..." I whined. Huh, not much of an arguement.

"No 'but's' Bubbles," again with the nickname. "he's going or no date."

"Uncle Andy, it's a date, for two people, not two people and a babysitter." Justin continued.

"Yeah, what he said." I pointed out. Austin remained surprisingly quiet throughout this whole time.

Dad looked at Natalie again, begging for assistance. She shrugged before looking at Austin and I. "Well, I think Bubbles- I mean Lily - deserves independence and I don't think Austin would do anything, he does want to keep your trust," Austin began nodding, his I'm-a-good-teenage-boy-despite-all-the-stereotypes-even-though-they're-true smile on his face.

Dad bit his bottom lip before glancing at Austin and I again, a look of defeat on his face. "Fine, no babysitter," we bit our tongues, waiting for the catch. "I still want to know where and when and come home before ten."

I gave him the 'ten thirty' puppy dog look but he didn't look effected by it.

Eh, worth a shot.

Austin squeezed my hand gingerly, causing me to look at him. "We could go skating and then a walk through the park down the street." he explained more to my dad but I still heard him and nodded. He grinned before giving me the rose that he had in his hand for awhile.

I looked at the rose itself. It looked blood red with sand coloured tips from lack of water. The stem was an deep emerald colour, the thorns cut off to prevent someone from pricking their finger. I brought the beautiful flower to my nose and inhaled the distinguishing scent that it held.

I arose from the couch, clutching the stem of the rose tightly. "I'm going to get dressed." I announced.

"But we're not leaving until seven." Austin said.

I turned to smile at him. "I know, but I have to find an outfit to wear." I left everyone downstairs but I soon heard the front door open then shortly close.

When I made my way to my room holding the rose to my nose and smelling every so often I realized I never asked Austin about the thing I needed to ask him about.

I finally made it to my room, tossing the flower gently on my bed as I began to rummage through my drawers. I didn't know what to wear at all.

Maybe I could ask Natalie.

Nah. I can do this.

Twenty minutes in I couldn't find an outfit and my room was destroyed.

Great.

Sighing, I sprawled out on my bed, carefully making sure I didn't crush the precious rose.

Looking around my bomb aftermath of a room I saw a top I had grown to love. My perfection isn't everything, unless it's pizza, then that's art shirt. I for one love stupid shirts like that, they make me feel like a normal teenager. Grabbing the yellow shirt I stripped out of my shirt, leaving me in a bra.

It was then I heard a whistle.

Turning around I saw Austin leaning out of his window, smirking.

I gasped in horror and covered my upperhalf with my shirt. "Austin!" I hissed.

He began to chuckle, seeing how uncomfortable I was. "Why not give me the full show?" he asked, his grin still prominent on his face.

I made my way to the window. "You wish." I said before pulling down the blinds and the curtain. I could hear him groan. I smiled. Such a perv he was.

I soon frowned, realizing how awkward and uncomfortable the date would soon be, after I demand an answer for my unanswered questions, just for him.
