Third-Person POV

They say that it's "better the devil you know than the angel that you don't know."

For Ryan and Theo, the statement couldn't be any truer since they knew that Demario's former blood relatives let him know how much that they really hated him for being a love child and wanted him to live a miserable life while they lived in luxury through their special contacts. And the two young men knew that Demario had received their message that was delivered to him through some frightened freshman who knew enough to do what was told if he valued his life. Needless to say, Demario had received the message loud and clear: both Ryan and Theo were still out for his blood.

So it was no surprise for them to have not only Douglass and Evangeline Bader alongside two of their three daughters at one of Ryan's relatives' underused vacation homes but also commended the duo for the planned shootout. But what really surprised them both was an offer that they wouldn't dare to refuse.

"Demario is a hard cockroach to dispose," Douglass said crisply as he enjoyed himself a glass of brandy. "And it's distasteful for him to be happy with people who wish for everything that we don't want for him- happiness. He has those pathetic group of people who are watching for his welfare. Unfortunately, it'll be impossible for us to have them turn against him since they know all about us and our intentions."

"Which is why we're prepared to take drastic measures," his wife continued. "The plan is really simple: kill off a select few of his supporters before we make our move to finally take him out. And we would want him out of our lives before he goes to that fancy school over in Boston."

"Who do you have in mind to start with?" Theo asked. "Mind you, everyone who knows Ryan and I by now, and I do mean everyone, knows that there's a lot of heat on us. And as much as Officer Ingram, the man whom we stole the guns from, wants to help, there's a lot of heat on him at the moment. We can't dive into this plan without preparing a lists of targets."

"Understandably so, given everything and all," Amelia commented. "But still, you two are mainly the ones who want the most damage from Demario since he and Oliver damaged your reputations alongside. Your message that you sent to him is the start of your plans. You two hold sway over the game so far. It's time to show that runt that you mean business. Do away with him and his support system one by one until Demario has no other choice but to either let you two kill him or kill himself."

Ryan and Theo looked at each other briefly before smiling wickedly at the Bader clan. "With pleasure," they said. "And I think we know who to start with first."

"And that is?"

Within ten minutes, the lives of Douglass Jesse Bader, Evangeline Rose Thompson Bader, Amelia Rosette Bader, and Candace Thalia Bader were swiftly ended before the safehouse that Theo and Ryan stayed at was caught on fire before the teens disappeared off the grid.

"That was so much fun," Ryan crowed happily as he looked back to see the house go up in flames with the bodies inside. "That ought to send Demario a message."

"Who do we kill next?" Theo asked eagerly. "They did have a point, though. We need to plan this thoroughly so we can have Demario at his lowest point."

Ryan smirked. "I know who to start with," he answered. "For now, we lie low for a few days. Then, we make the next move."

The two young men drove away just as policemen arrived at the scene of the fire as many residents nearby would soon know what had happened with a cryptic message for one Demario Bader from Ryan and Theo.

The game was on, gentle readers. And soon, there would be no going back.

Oh, shit! Just as they were working together, Ryan and Theo double-crossed Douglass, Evangeline, Candace, and Amelia Bader! While I can't say that I'm not surprised, this could mean that Ryan and Theo will make sure that Demario will crumble to nothing. And folks, this means that things are going to get more complicated than ever for our starring man!

In the next chapter, Demario learns of what happened as he prepares for his move to Boston with Oliver.
