"They're taking it really well," JJ commented from the passenger side of Heyward's truck.

The boys were both watching Kiara and her parents have a yelling match on the front porch.

"How'd you get this rig? I know your old man didn't let you have it," JJ asked, referring to the truck.

"I undid the intake valves on the carburetor. Made it start pinging."

"And now you're just gonna take it to your cousin Jeff's house. Just gonna get it fixed."

"Crash overnight," they both finished simultaneously.

"I think I'm rubbing off on you, Pope. Lying to your old man, stealing his truck. Kinda sounds familiar."

JJ glanced at Pope when he didn't reply, "All right, that's a sore subject. My bad."

"I'd say we have about 18 hours before he absolutely loses his shit. So as long as we get it back before then, I think we're good."

Kie continued shouting at her parents as she made her way towards the truck.

JJ climbed out to let Kie in and waved at her parents, "It's good to see y'all, Mr. and Mrs. Carrera."

Pope stuck his head out of the truck to wave, "Hi, uh, ma'am, sir. I... I promise to have her back at a reasonable hour and safe."

"What are you doing?" Kie asked with her brows furrowed.

JJ bit his lip to hold in a laugh.

"Kiara, listen to me. You wanna go, then you can go. But if you don't come back at the proper time, then don't come back at all!" Mrs. Carrera shouted while placing a hand on her hip.

"She's bluffing," JJ muttered from behind Kie.

Kie took a deep breath then got into the car.

JJ waved one last time, "Y'all have a good day," before climbing in after Kie.

"This shit would be so much easier without parents," Kie complained.

JJ just shrugged and nodded.

"She just needs to rest for a few minutes. She'll come around," the doctor explained.

Grace let out a relieved breath then walked around the table to wrap her arms around John B. He wrapped his arms around her waist, rested his head on top of hers and pulled her in tight.

"She's alright," Grace whispered.

He just nodded against her head.

John B released Grace and made his way to the room the doctor was sitting in. Grace gave him a small smile but stayed next to Sarah.

"Hey, hey, take it easy," Grace steadied her sister as Sarah sat up with a groan.

Sarah disregarded her, grabbed her IV bag and made her way towards John B.

"Whoa, little lady! You need to go lie down," the doctor exclaimed as she entered the room.

"That's what I said," Grace shrugged.

John B stood quickly and made his way over to her.

"How long did I sleep?" Sarah asked urgently.

"Not long enough."

"Can we still make it?"

"No. No. We- It's over. Okay?"

Sarah shook her head while reading a nearby clock, "No it's not."
