The Begnning of The End

(MAJOR TRIGGER WARNING, VULGAR WARNING, BLOOD, AND DEATH)

No POV:

The atmosphere around them was one of power and anxiety. Sonic stared up at Shadow... knowing that whatever was going on... wasn't Shadow. Even if he was an alien, this didn't seem like him. Tails pulled out a small glove from his pocket as he pressed a button it. As it turned into a hand-held cannon. Knuckles popped his fingers and got into a fighting stance. As Sonic took a deep breath, putting a hand up. Telling Tails and Knuckles to not attack yet. Looking back up at what looked like Shadow, Sonic finally spoke.

Sonic: "Who are you? What is going on, and... what is your purpose here on our planet."

Ophelian chuckled, using Shadow's body as his own.

Ophelian: "My name is Ophelian, and I'm glad you asked. The person you call Shadow... is actually named Lurzo. I'm his subconscious. That alien idiot came here to destroy your petite and well-known pathetic planet. But no! He got soft. Enjoying life here, he even fell in love with you... little old blue. I was tired of being walked on. Ever since I showed myself when he was young, he shut me out! He knew the moment he came to this planet... he could have turned it to dust with the flick of a switch. Yet... the little cunt couldn't grow a damn backbone! So... I grew it for him."

Sonic glared at Ophelian, his mind not quite grasping this concept. Yet, he knew this was a fight to not only save his people but his world.

Sonic: "Why do you seek to destroy our world? If ours is so weak, then what's the point in destroying it?!"

Ophelian's laugh slowly became demonic. His eyes focused only on Sonic.

Ophelian: "You're such a stupid blue rat... any planet existing is a threat... no matter how weak it may be. You're in our way of becoming superior. Besides, you fighting will be no match compared to me. I've been locked up in the back of his mind, and now... I control one of the most powerful aliens. He's held back so much power, so many things I could do to you. But I like to see my prey beg for mercy... you pathetic mortals..."

Sonic growled as he felt his face getting hot.

Sonic: "I'm not... a rat."

Ophelian: "Awe... I'm sorry, you just remind me of something as weak as such."

Sonic kept his distance, as he then made a hand movement. Tails and Knuckles started to advance in the distance.

Ophelian: "Oh ho! Now the game begins..."

Sonic watched closely as Ophelia used his strength. Bashing his fist off the cavern wall near the emerald. As some of the rocks and boulders from above started to fall. Sonic and the others separated, running and trying to keep themselves from being caught or killed. Sonic stumbled as Knuckles pushed Sonic out of the way. Knuckles' leg getting caught underneath a Boulder.

Knuckles: "Go! Try and get to Ophelian, I'll be fine!"

Sonic nodded his head, getting up and getting back up to speed. Watching Ophelian, as he saw some electricity being focused in Ophelian's paw. So distracted by the new move, he accidentally bumped into Tails. Tails' cannon went off on accident and almost hit the master emerald.

Tails: "Sonic! You need to watch where you're going!"

Sonic: "I'm sorry, buddy. I didn't mean to bump into you, he just-"

Right when Sonic tried to finish his sentence, Tails sprinted towards him.

Tails: "Sonic! LOOK OUT!"

Sonic turned around, as the chaos spear was being shot towards him. Too stunned to move, Tails pushed Sonic out of the way. Making Sonic fall and hit the ground. Sonic groaned as he mumbled.

Sonic: "Thank you, Tails... I thought I was gonna-"

Sonic froze, seeing Tails had been impaled by the chaos spear. Still barely standing up as his light purple blood dripped onto the ground. Tears filled his eyes, as his legs finally gave out. Falling to the ground as Sonic got up and scattered over to him.

Sonic: "TAILS!"

Sonic's eyes filled with tears as he kneeled in front of Tails. His paws were shaky as he looked as his little brother dying in front of him. Sonic, with shaky paws... slowly held Tails' body and started to sob. Gripping at him as Tails' voice was barely over a whisper.

Tails: "... S-Sonic..."

Sonic: "Y-Yes little buddy?"

Tails was slowly getting colder as Sonic held him.

Tails: "... Did I do well? Was I a good enough brother...?"

Sonic felt his tears pour down his muzzle as he watched the chaos spear slowly disappear due to lack of electrical energy.

Sonic: "... You did amazing! Y-You will and have always been a good brother, Tails..."

Tails: "... That's all I needed t-to... know. Please... d-dont forget me..."

Sonic was so shaky, and his own lack of attention and action led to his little brother dying in his arms.

Sonic: "I w-wont ever forget you... T-Tails..."

Once Sonic finished his sentence, Tails went limp. His eyes half-lided as the blood dripped from his mouth, nose, and stomach. The chaos spear now gone from his stomach. Sonic felt his emotions over run his logical thinking. Knuckles was limping as he finally witnessed the scene. Knuckles started to tear up as well. Sonic mumbled softly to where on Knuckles could hear him.

Sonic: "... Rest now, the both of you. Knuckles, hold him... I'll fix this."

Knuckles nodded his head, limping and sitting down as he held Tails' dead body in his lap. Watching Sonic closely. Seeing the blue hedgehogs, cobalt blue quills turn to a more cyan color. His green eyes were now a dark brown. The glimmer in his eyes was gone. The emblems that surround his eyes... we're a dark gray now. Tails' blood on his paws, staring at it like it was a curse. Standing to where Ophelian could only see his back.

Ophelian: "Seems like someone can't live a little. You Mobian's get too caught up in love and family. It slows you down, makes you weak..."

Sonic's head slowly turned, as those dark brown eyes turned to a putrid red. The star pupils were now slit. His gaze even made Ophelian shiver. Sonic slowly turned his body around as he finally spoke. His voice hoarse as his tears still dripped down his muzzle.

Sonic: "Weak, huh? Family keeps you strong, they support you... make you feel unstoppable even when you don't feel so. You just killed... the only brother I had. He was the only person I've been able to keep since I was little. My family was fucked from the very beginning! My mom is a queen, and my sister and brother are both prince and princess. I left that wretched family once I came out. They despised me. I was their little play thing. Every time they walked into the room, it was another harsh comment, another little laugh for the others. And one more scar on my body! I wanted to die until I met Tails! He made my life worth living. He made it worth the battle. He's saved me countless times, and now him saving me cost him his life. Him leaving... hasn't made me any weaker than a lamb with a gaping wound across its body. In fact, it's made me realize a few things. One... that I won't ever let someone like you bring such a great person down like this ever again. And two... THAT IM GOING TO RIP OUT YOUR HEART AND MAKE YOU CHEW IT WHILE YOU STILL GOT THE OXYGEN LEFT TO BREATHE!"
