The Light In The Dark

Out Of This World

Sonic POV:

I landed the shuttle with care as I stayed quiet, letting Knuckles rest. I checked the oxygen level and noticed it was fine. I got up from the captain's seat and pressed a dark green square shaped button. Walking past Knuckles as he snored and slept. I walked out and down the small staircase down to the planet. I felt my feet touch the ground... the ground felt like moss. I then looked around as my red eyes seemed to glow when looking at the beauty. There were huge trees, large plants and magnificent colors. I walked around, seeing something that looked like a willow tree. But the branches and tree were dark purple. The leaves were a blue ombre coloring. A white light would stream down the leaves like a light show. There were huge flowers... it sounded like they were breathing in my ears, but I just couldn't seem to be afraid. Their petals were pastel pink... and was soft like cotton. I continued walking... seeing luminescent waterfalls and koi fish... but they had clear skin and you could see their insides, but it glowed and lit up the parts of the water that weren't lit. I then found rocks that would move and help you get up a hill or mountain. I stepped on one of the rocks as it pushed me really high up into the air and onto the high cliff. I landed my feet down onto the ebony moss flooring. Turning around to see the beautiful lit world. I felt like I was dreaming, this all seemed so unreal. I turn back around to see some evergreen trees that weren't lit with color... but they had blue and light blue flakes connected to their branches. Yet the color seemed shallow and weak. Dark brown vines stayed in between them. The bushes surrounding them were missing their liveliness. I pushed through the harsh and tangled vines. As I got through, I stumbled into a cavern. Pausing and going quiet... it was too dark to go inside. I walked in a bit further and cupped my hands together around my mouth.

Sonic: "Hello?! Anyone here?"

No response came from my yelling. I shrugged and rolled my eyes. When taking one last step forward, torches with a blue flame light up along the walls of the cramped cave. I looked down at the ground, the rocky texture feeling like it was moving around underneath me. I stumbled back and leaned on a wall. As I then realized the cave walls started pushing inward. I then noticed the stairs going upward. Sprinting up them with every ounce of energy left in my legs. Feeling how I felt when I used to run, but without the freedom involved. My breathing was shaky and heavy once I made it up to a flat surface and the walls closed in completely behind me. I lend forward, feeling a bit tired from running that fast all of a sudden. I haven't ran like that in a long time. I then stand back up, taking my paws off my knees. I then look in front of me. Seeing a mesmerizing garden. Big dark green bushes that carried large roses on top of them. The roses were a dark red coloring, some were lighter than others. I then moved forward, as a stair popped up underneath my foot. I froze and stayed in place, wobbling and feeling like I was about to fall off the slim step. As I then, put my foot forward, as another step arrived underneath my other foot. I looked around, feeling a bit confused. I kept putting one foot in front of the other... feel steps come up underneath me like a magical trick. When looking up, I noticed three gems floating. I kept walking up these steps, curious about what these things were. I finally got up to the platform these gems were hovering on. I slowly reached my paw out, it glowed brighter when I did so. I felt like I was in some intense trance. This all couldn't be real... but if this was all happening... maybe it was. I touched the biggest gem with care, wondering if it would hurt me. But when I touched it... the gem made a loud yet harmonizing humming sound. I backed my paw up as I got a bit scared of what I had done. The gems started to float a bit higher as the gems then latched themselves to my forehead. I groaned... feeling like a parasite was digging into my head. Getting a major headache, I felt like my body was changing. I closed my eyes and rubbed between the two. My head is spinning. I stumbled slightly, feeling like I was walking on elastic. Feeling the ground move in a waving motion. I gagged... getting motion sickness. I leaned on the wall, gaining my balance yet again. I shook my head and took a deep breath. The nausea is leaving my body. I then look to the side and freeze up. I was looking into a crystallized material in the form of a mirror. My body... it looked almost completely different. I had hind legs... my patterns were more vibrant. A neon teal between and outer rim of my eyes. My quills had an ombre of dark gray and neon teal mixed together and the bottom tips. I had four ears, each having the color of gray or teal. I couldn't see my mouth... but I could feel my teeth gritting against each other and my tongue movie. I turned my body around a bit... seeing I had a long silky tail. I'm staring at it for a moment... it felt a bit heavy. Then I saw the gems... the biggest one in between the two smaller ones. It glowed bright, as I then looked at my eyes. They were pure white, almost like looking at snow on a sunny day. I was drawn to this new look that I never thought would ever happen. I then looked at every little detail my body had to give. I then noticed my muzzle then looked like it was being torn apart. Yet it didn't hurt. As I then saw my tongue peak out from the small crevice. My tongue was turquoise and I had sharp fangs. I was feeling my confidence just growing when looking at my newly formed body. I then heard someone breaking through the rock walls that had closed in. Staring down at the original entrance, I growled... waiting to see an enemy of some sort. Once the wall shattered. I heard wheezing and someone breathing heavily. It was Knuckles. The red echidna looked up and gasped.

Knuckles: "Who the hell are you?! And what have you done with Sonic?!"

I giggled at his question as I hopped off the cliff hanging and landed between the garden when the stairs had disappeared back into the ground. Smiling at Knuckles, I spoke.

Sonic: "Knux, it's me... these gems made me look like this."

I pointed at my forehead as I smiled at him. He stared at me, starting to get a slight liking to it.

Knuckles: "Ok... new look, nice."

I nodded my head as I took a deep breath and looked at Knuckles. I felt refreshed when looking like this. I spoke once more before I started to walk back out through the original entrance.

Sonic: "This world is so beautiful, maybe we can hide here for a little while until we can actually get back home without those aliens trying to search for us."

Knuckles agreed, as we both walked out and made it to the cliff I stood on prior. Looking at the discolored trees and bushes now glowing around the opening cave. Looking off into the distance of this beautiful land. I looked back at him.

Sonic: "New adventure... and a new home. Let's make the best out of this."
