The Light In The Dark

The Finale

Sonic went back inside the castle. He was stoic... keeping himself quiet. Shadow walking is not too far behind him. Going back to the room with the enchanted book. Opening it and seeing the golden print writing. Shadow could feel guilt dripping inside of his mind.

Shadow: "Sonic... I am so sorry, I never meant to harm Silver. I never meant to cause more pain."

Sonic sighed as he looked back at his lover.

Sonic: "Things happen, I know you meant no harm. It was not your fault whatsoever. It was his decision to bring himself to his end."

Shadow nodded in response, taking in what Sonic had said to the core. Even though it may not have been fully his fault, he should not have gone back to those deep desires of power.

Sonic skimmed through the book and kept him quiet yet again. Finding a spell that could fix this madness... rewind everything. The albino hedgehog started whispering the enchanted words underneath his breath. His eyes fixated each word. Saying it with precision and desperately trying not to mess up. The gems that float above his head started to glow. Lifting further up than the halo, as the jagged circle started spinning. Sonic kept up with reciting the spell... and once everything was done, you could hear the sound of cracking... and clattering.

Sonic got up from reading the book as him and Shadow went out to go investigate these intense noises. Shadow opened the doors quickly... their jaws dropping to the beauty they once saw before. Silver's tree still stood in the midst of all the beauty. Now, one with the planet he once protected. Sonic then slowly turned around, hearing the sounds of chimes go off behind him. When looking back, his eyes teared up. That stoic attitude was left in the dumps. He saw Knuckles standing there, full body... nothing missing, just he himself. Running up to him and hugging him. Knuckles was now seeing Sonic in a whole new light. Putting him down, Knuckles smiled and spoke to Sonic.

Knuckles: "I think it's time to see someone you've been missing for quite some time..."

Sonic was confused until Knuckles grabbed his paw and made him go up to the steps and lead him into the room where the book was held. Sonic was still confused... until he looked at the ground.

His eyes started streaming water down his face, his heart beating quickly. He felt his body become heavy as he looked down at him...

Who is him?

Well...

Tails: "Hey, big bro, nice to see you again. You've grown a lot since we last saw each other."

Sonic could hold himself together. Collapsing to the ground and holding onto Tails like it was his last all over again. Tails looked so different now due to the planets' powers. He had four Tails bow, and the colors on his fur were so vibrant. His teeth were sharper, too. His mind looped as he held Tails... he never thought he'd see his little brother again. It made his body feel weighted, but he didn't let go of him.

Tails: "Alright... alright, ya, big cry, baby. I can tell you missed me."

Sonic sniffled and then growled.

Sonic: "MISSED YOU?! NO, NO IT WAS MORE THAN THAT! God... it's so nice to have you back..."

He kept letting the tears fall off his face. It was so healing to finally have his brother back in his arms, and next to em'.

Tails: "Cmon! I want to see how this planet looks!"

Tails jumped up, getting Knuckles, Shadow... and even Sonic to follow. They went through the front doors as Tails' jaw was left hanging. A huge smile was planted on his face as he looked at the beautiful nature surrounding them. It felt like such paradise.

Tails turned around as Knuckles walked up next to him. Sonic just stood there... the view... his brother... his best friend. And his mate, now holding his hand. They looked at each other and gave soft grins to one another.

Sonic: "Well... the gangs back together. So what are waiting for?! Let's set out on another adventure!"

With that they all cheered, leaving Shadow to just smile... so happy to see his lover in such a joyful state again. Sonic gave one more smile towards Shadow. Letting go of each other's hands. As all of them lept out of the entrance of the castle, and set foot... on their next big journey.
