People always believed that my family is the villains, well that is certainly true! For my father was trained under none other than Captain Hook himself. My sister and i were trained by our father. Now my sister is the Queen of the Pirates.
So i guess the people believe right. We are villains.
I'm Captain Damião Casimiro Ladron, and I... I'm a pirate.
I stare into the distance, where the queen has her "evil" layer, Isla Maldita.
It's a small island but a sanctuary for us pirates. Dark and mysterious clouds always cover the huanted island.
A beach with gray sand and black rocks... when you're in the woods, you can barely see due to the thick fog.
No one ever dares to go near the island... for it's a dark and lonely place.
Not even the leader of the lost boys dare to fly close.
As i stare through the window, i can feel the ship swaying with the water. The ocean is not wild today she's resting. I hear mumbled shouts in the distance, my crew giving and receiving orders from my first mate. If i don't try to listen for it then i wouldn't hear the ongoing creaking from the wood of the ship dancing with the water, for I'm so used to it by now that i hardly hear it.
I smile to myself. How would another life be like? If i wasn't a pirate? In the Reino No Mágico (non magic realm).
Would i...
My thoughts get inturupted by a knock. "Captain. May i come in?" Says a deep voice but mudfled by the door.
"Yes." I answer, still look out the window.
The door cracks open and closes again.
But the person is in my quarters, waiting for me.
"Yes, Theo, what is it?" I ask, finally looking at my first mate, also my cousin.
His hair is dark brown freshly cut, and it ends just before the middle of his ears. He's wearing a grey loose shirt, and his sleeves are rolled up just before his elbows. Gray pants with a red fabric belt, with long black boots that end at his knees.
"What is it?" I ask again.
"What is our destination?" He asks calmly.
Theo is two years older than me, but he's like a brother to me. He has saved my life more than once.
"Let's stay here for a fortnight... then head back to Isla Nunca Más." I say,
looking over the maps in front of me.
There are four golden yellow with brown edges, unrolled maps, and three rolled up and tied with red strings. Next to my map table is my closet, acrose from it is a built-in bed a bit too short for me, so i just use it as a reading nook. Next to the nook is some shelving around the window, for a few bottles of rum, books, scrolls, shells, and other nooks and cranies.
There are a few lanterns here and there for nighttime.
My quarters are nice and spacious...with light oak floors spanning across the room, thick oak walls, and a sturdy roof. Big picture windows at the back, letting through the light of day. And two windows on each side making the room's lighting warm and cozy. The scarlet red curtains are pulled back, so the sunlight can shine through the blurry glass windows. My bed and desk with a medium-sized blood red carpet is on a floor that is lifted up with two small stairs in the middle. With wooden railings so that the stairs are the only way to my desk and bed.
"Captain... Damião, you seem a bit off... is there anything bothering you?" Theo asks, unsure.
Theo only ever calls me Damião when he wants to be personal.
"You know how it is Theo... a life of a pirate." I say, pretending to study the maps.
One map shows both islands, Isla Nunca Más is much bigger than Isla Maldita. The other map shows only Isla Maldita, the island is covered in a few hills, and it shows the skull looking intrance to the cave.
The third map shows isla Nunca Más, the island is mostly covered in a mountain range that is shaped into a moon shape. There is a big lake in the middle, and the whole island is covered in trees. There's a small peninsula on the left of the island for the Indians, then on the other side of the island is the Playa Resplandeciente (glowing beach).
The last map shows La Isla del Tesoro (treasure island). It used to be known as the skull island, but then Isla Maldita was discovered with the skull cave.
So it changed.
"Aye. A life of a pirate... is a cruel life, actually." He says, speaking more to himself than me.
"Ah! Says the one where all lasses fall to his feet." I say chuckling, looking at him.
It is true that whenever we go to the tavern, all the lasses have their eyes on him. But he never took any of them. He didn't want anyone.
"You and i both know that has nothing to do with it." He says serious.
My smiile fades. I look back down at the maps, and i put my hands on the edge of the table to rest.
"Yes. I know." I say lowly.
A pirates life is a bloody nightmare. And it's hard to get out of a hole that is already too deep enough that the walls are rock, so you can't go anywhere except deeper.
