I awoke at the sound of a yell from a man. "Get ready!" I look around it's dawn, and the war has began. I slept on the deck's floor between two barrels, my body aches, from the hard floor. I slowly get up as everyone is scurrying around to get weapons.

BOOM!

A cannon from Casimero's ship goes off. I search for the one person among the crowd I feel safe with. I search and I search he's no where to be found. Dark clods are above us with a low rumble of thunder. No rain yet. I see Maria standing next to the helmsman, she's the calm in the brink of war.
I go up to her, she hands me an extra dagger, sword, and a belt to sheath them in. I put it on without asking questions. "How did you convince your father to let you bring us?" I ask, watching the island, it looks so dark and abandond. "I didn't." She states. "What?" I say snapping my head to look at her. "I stayed back when he left, and got you all on my ship." She explains nonchalantly.

BOOM!

I look towards Casimero's ship, it's a few miles ahead of us. I realize we're sailing all around the Island at full speed. He wants to scare the people... he wants them to know that their hero is dead. MY chest aches, and I search for Damiao again, but I don't find him. "Where is he?" I turn back to Maria. "He, Hae, Theo, and Abner took a small boat and went to gather the people." She says, pointing to something and the young helmsman who looks around my age moves the large wheel to his right. "When did he leave?" I ask on the edge. "After you fell asleep." She says not looking at me.

"Princess... come to the water." A siren-like voice whispers. I look around, Maria is frozen in place looking at me... She heard it too. "We promise you'll feel better." The siren-voice sings. Me and Maria both stride to the railling to look at the water. Dark grey shoulders and faces, are sticking out of the water with dark eyes, and long locks of dark hair. Sirens!

"Jump for us... princesses." They all sing, their lips aren't moving. They're in our heads!

I look at Maria, and for the first time she looks scared. "The mermaids are gone." She whispers. "What?" I frown. "Sirens don't come to mermaid waters... the mermaids are our protectors against the sirens." She says quickly.

Delja is gone.

"Why would they leave?" I gasp, as more sirens pop up. "I don't know." She breathes.

And this will be the last day for all of us.
