Ainsley.
I left her in the hospital, I told them a story of her abusive foster family. And I met Maxine... the girl I made to promise me that Esme will get a better, safer, loving home. She deserves it.
I left, knowing I might never see her again. I left her, breaking my own heart.
I returned to Isla Nunca Mass, the sirens still fighting us to come to our deaths at the bottom of the ocean. I search and search for any sighns of the mermiads. Of her... my Delja.
Months have passed still nothing.
"Ainsley! Please help me tie this to my head." A small boy with dark curly hair and light eyes, holds up a small red piece of fabric. I smile and take it. I tie it our the busy body that squirms in my grasps, wanting to play pirates with his friends. I finish the tie, he thanks me and runs off with his friends. "One day, I hope." I say sadly to myself. "How about today?" A gentle voice asks. MY head snaps to look at her. She looks gorgouse, her coilly hair flowing with the soft breeze, her white dress bringing out her soft brown skin. And there held in her arms.... is the baby... my baby. "It's a girl." Delja whispers, with a smile. Then her eyes start to cry. I rush to her, holding her in my embrace, careful of the little body in her arms. "Took you long enough." I whisper into her ear. "Don't die again, you idiot." She says muffled by my shoulder, I chuckle and kiss her on the cheek.
"I love you." I say as I look into her eyes. "I love you too." She says smiling at me. "This is Cova." She says. Cova's skin slightly lighter than her mother's and dark swirls of hair cover her head. "Hello, my beautiful Cova." I whisper at the sleeping baby.
My new world.
