I watch as Theo and Esme dance, she's enjoying herself. I don't know why I was so agitated with her, I just... my mind was at a different place. My heart and mind are at odds. My heart wants to stay here with Esme, it just want to be with her. My mind is whispering at what my sister and father are expecting from me.

"She just has to get on my nerves." Hae says next to me. I look at her, she really angry, if she was a dragon smoke would have come out of her nose in dark black clouds. "And my cousin just has to get on my nerves." I say, trying to distract her. She glares at me. "And you could've been a much better dance partner, earlier." She hisses. I frown at her. "Why am I getting the poison?" I ask. She huffs. "If you weren't such a baka!" She snarls. I stay silent for a few minutes. "What... what does 'baka' mean?" I ask unsure. She rolls her eyes at me. "It means Idiot in Japanese." then she storms off. I look back at Esme and Theo they have stopped dancing they are just talking now.

"Angel! You're here!" A voice yells over the noises, that catches my ear. I turn around, Ainsley and Delja are standing close together, waving to a person in the crowd. As the woman walks out of the crowd, her brown hair shining in the light, her smile bright. My heart stops. Am I seeing things? The woman feels my gaze, and then we make eye contact. She goes pale, she starts to walk backwards, back into the crowd. I start to run after her, but she disappeared like that night many years ago. I turn back to Ainsley and Delja, their faces full of confusion. "Who is she?" I ask desperately. "Her name is Angel Castellano... she has been here for a few years now." Delja explains. "Do you know her?" Asks Ainsley. I look back at the crowd. "I don't know." I answer.

My mother never told me her maiden name... or maybe she did and I have just forgotten. But maybe I'm just being delusional, maybe she just looked a lot like my mother with the same name. Yes! Because if my mother were alive she would have come back to us, and she would have never let us do the things we did for our father.

"I better get back to Esme." I say, turning back to the crowd of dancers. "Damiao." Ainsley calls. I look at him, he has a serious expression on his face. "Yes?" I answer. "Just don't fool around with my sister's heart. Otherwise I wouldn't sleep with both eyes closed." He stated darkly. I just nod my head. Delja starts to whisper something to him. But I walk back to the dance area... but Esme is gone. I run to the nearest stand and ask if he has seen her, and he said he did and that she's at the beach on the hammock.

I walk to the beach away from the crowd it's quiet out here, it's quite nice. The moon is beautiful, some clouds are surrounding it.  To be honest I didn't want to come tonight... but I couldn't stop picturing her dancing and enjoying the night with another man. So here I am trying to... I'm not even sure of what I'm doing, besides making he miserable!

"Oh, why must he be so... unreadable? Like why can't he just... be nice?" A soft voice asks. I look to my right and there is the hammock, that looks like it's hiding someone... it's definitely her! I walk up to the hammock. "What are you doing?" I ask. She jumps up, hitting her head against the branch above her. "Oww." She says rubbing her head, she look up at me, her eyes big and sparkling in the moonlight.

"Why do you keep on disappearing?" I ask again. "You were the one who disappeared this time." She whispers, looking down at the bottle of rum in her hand, it's almost halfway. I move a bit closer to her. "I went to get you something. I did not disappear for long. You disappeared like a wave." I whispers near her face. Her face is a few inches away from mine. She swallows, her eyes searching my face. "What did you get?" she asks. "You need to get out of the hammock first." I say, moving away, making space for her to get out. she drops the three bottles on the sand, they make a 'clink' sound as they bump into each other, they didn't break.

She stands in front of me, the moonlight is shining on her like she's a ruler, maybe she's ruling my heart. "Turn around." I say gently. She turns around, then I gently move her hair over her right shoulder. I remove the necklace from my coat pocket, I take the two ends and lift it over her head,  she gasps in awe. I finish clipping it behind her neck. She turn around to look at me, holding the pendant between her fingers. "It's beautiful!" She breathes. "It was my mother's." I says, looking at the pendant. "But... if it was your mother's, then why would you give it to me?" She asks, frowning at me. I give a small smile. "Because it belongs to you." I whispers. I look into her eyes, her face confused at my gesture. "I don't understand." She says, she searches my face. I chuckle lowly, and shake my head.
