I sure know how to make Esme open up to me.
"Want to talk?" I ask, as I come closer to her, she sits on the wooden floor and against a barrel. "Nope." She says, not looking at me. I let a moment pass. "How about now?" I lean in closer, resting my hand on the barrel. "Leave me alone." She hisses. "I can't." I state nonchalantly. "Why?" She snaps her head in my direction. "I hate poeple who sit around and are gloomy. It's so annoying to walk around on ice with them." I say, making sure to say all the things to make her angry. She needs to let it out.
"Then I'll be in the cell." She says, getting up. "I know what you want." I whisper. She looks at me her brows furrowed. "I know you want to hit me, maybe even kill me. I know because I held you back from saving your brother." I explain. Her eyes flare. "Want to scream at me? Or do you want to fight me?" I challenge. "I'll rip you to shreds." She says lowly. I smirk. There it is.
I give her a dagger, she snatches it and starts to come for me. I step back dodging her blows and the barrels. As she throws another blow I spin to her side and catch her arms, I kick her legs that she will fall onto her side. She groans. I don't grab my dagger, I don't need it. She gets up and starts to throw some kicks but I move back with a smirk. She screetches in frustration. Good, we're almost there.
The crew is watching us now, confused. "I know you can do better than that." I state. She swings her arm close to my chest with the dagger, but I dodge. I step back and act as if I tripped and fall down onto my back. She's on me know the dagger cold against my throat. "Do it." I say calmly. She breathes heavily, I hear footsteps and I wave them away. I'm deffinitely not helpless, and I know she won't kill me. "Do it." I dare. SHe exhales through her teeth. And then the anger crashes and she lets go of the dagger, covering her face and softening the sobs. She gets off of me and I sit up next to her. "He was the only one left. He was all I had." She croaks. "I'm the last of my family." She whispers, she stares at the ground.
I cross my legs as I listen to her sniffing and moaning. "I know how it feels to lose someone. It's hard at first... but one day you'll realise you need to get out of the slump and start living for them. To honor them." I say, thinking of my mother, and Mona.
"I'm angry at my brother for being so careless and stupid. Why couldn't he dodge the bullet?" She says, another few sobs escapes. "All he wanted to do was to stop you from being killed. He wanted you to live." I say. "It wasn't the first time." She whispers. "Sometimes, to save a life... another must die." I whisper. My mother died, in a way to protect me and my brother.
"I wouldn't have guessed you to be so wisdomful." She says, with a soft chuckle. I roll my eyes. "This is a once off. You didn't need comfort, you needed to get that bloody temper fixed." I say, getting up to leave. "Thank you." She says quietly. I look down at her. "You can mourn. But don't be angry at the ones who love you and who are still here with you." I say, and I can see she understands what I'm saying.
Fix things with Damiao... don't lash out on him, you'll hurt him. And one day you might lose him.
And then I go to my rooms and sleep. We need to rest for the battle tomorrow. And I can't wait to kill that Arse with black hair and eyes, who I once liked... but now hate with every fiber.
