Chapter 23 The Kettle Boils and Burns

First Day Of School January 2nd 

It was a normal day at Bishop Creek High, nothing outstanding or out of the ordinary took place in the morning sessions of the class and it was now lunchtime. 

Kyle had once again been driven to maddening hunger due to the abundance of information that their chemistry teacher was outputting, which was just too much for the poor boy. 

He had hoped to have all his friends with him for lunch but unfortunately, Chloe was called away due to a family emergency, and Mei and Ellie weren't seen in the lunchroom. Both David and Daniel kept their distance mostly due to Kyle's animosity towards Daniel still being present. 

It was Kyle, and Toni with Manu, Adam, James, and Laqueisha all having lunch at that moment. 

"So Adam what's going on?" James asked slightly concerned. "You seemed quite urgent in your message".

Kyle studied his close friend slowly, he seemed calm and his heartbeat was normal but the look on his face indicated that something was up. 

Finally, Adam sighed and spoke.

"I learned the other day, yesterday to be precise some extremely important information", Adam stated. 

He spoke of the Eternal Garden Coven, that Emily was a witch and a part of it, of the looming threat of a dark group of witches who look deadset on upsetting the balance of the supernatural and not to mention Adam's task as being the Eternal Garden Coven's grand fighter against this threat. 

While everyone else processed this information differently Kyle was in thought, for a while he wondered when witches would turn up, Aadina was a psychic, and the abilities related to psionics so she wasn't a witch but this was troubling by itself, dealing with Wendigo's and the Baron was troublesome as it is, now he had to worry about a bunch of go lucky witches.

"It seems we can't catch a break", Manu commented. 

"It's dangerous for you to even consider their offer Adam, this could be a trap", Toni pointed out. 

"They would have never told him this information if they meant harm", Kyle stated refuting that Emily was not untruthful but merely never gave all the information.

"I can imagine how much that burden must have been for her, to carry that around and pretend she didn't care", Laquieisha pointed out. "So what should we do?"

"Emily made it clear to not linger out in Bishop Creek, and if we do be in groups at all times", Adam stated. 

Kyle noted that while this was a good plan it would be difficult and a part of him wanted to see what these witches truly wanted. However, Adam warned him against confronting them as the Eternal Garden witches explained to him that The Phoenix Fire Coven had been dismissed from Bishop Creek for their horrifying experiments and cruel treatment of the supernatural who did not believe in their way. 

LATER THAT DAY (END OF SCHOOL)

Kyle was waiting patiently at his bike where he and Aadina were chatting and not paying much mind to anyone around them as no practice was on for today and everyone else was lingering about, like normal teens. Despite the imminent danger the town was in from Chang's machinations, both had decided their best course of action would be creating a countermeasure to the day Chang would complete his plan with the help of Yennefer. 

Kyle had stared at the messages he sent to Chloe and got no response which concerned him but Aadina reassured him.

"I'm sure it's important, otherwise she'd have reached out", she said.
