Bishop Creek (6:44 pm)
THE NORTH WOODS
All his preparation and scheming had led him to be here at this moment, he knew the risks, he knew that a lot of people were about to be ruined but he didn't care. His single focus, his greatest desire was to be reunited with the one he cared for the most.
"Dr Chang, everything is in place. Is there anything else for us to do?" one of his workers asked.
"Only that you leave and get out of this horrible place as soon as possible," Chang ordered the man. "For I fear what I will unleash will be my end, but at least I will have done one good thing."
The men stared at the man worried, but Chang informed them he had already wired the money for the job to each of them and bid them farewell.
Chang put his hands in his coat as he waited for reckoning.
NOW With Daniel and Mei (Time 6:56 PM)
(1 Hour and 4 Minutes to Disaster)
Daniel knew he would be screwed but at the moment he didn't care he wanted to at least see her before he went off to be shackled down for the night, he needed to see a preferable face, especially after the argument between him and his father.
Of course, his mother was the one who had to get between them, but his father's last words stung.
"It's almost as if being average is what you strive for, is that the kind of son you wish to be remembered as,"
Daniel couldn't lie anymore, and it wasn't even the fact that he said the words; it was that he almost forced himself to shift. Luckily for him, his father and mother were too enthralled in yet another argument, and he left home, leaving a note indicating his whereabouts. After texting Mei and getting a response, they agreed to meet at a food parlor that Mei knew was good for Chinese food and drinks.
The two were silent while eating. Daniel was lost in his own thoughts, but he noticed Mei was not as chipper as she usually was.
"Uh, not the best way to start a conversation but I've been told speaking on what bothers you can be beneficial," Daniel stated.
Mei continued looking on as Daniel explained that for as long as he could remember the only thing his father ever wanted was perfection, Daniel understood as a businessman he had to keep up such a facade but at what cost. This caused Daniel to constantly overwork himself to the point of insanity, and anytime he deemed his grades to not be up to his father's approval it always pressured him to try more than he could.
"As much as he may not like me much, that night Kyle risked his life for me, he could have easily just left me to die, but he didn't," Daniel stated. "Compared to me, he's a hero."It was here Mei rested her hand on his and she gave him a soft smile.
"You are so hard on yourself, you don't even give yourself the credit you deserve," Mei told him. "You might have only gotten the gift recently, but your skills remain one of the best, Aiden chose you for a reason Daniel, always remember that."
Daniel had a hard time believing that, but her sincerity won him over and he chuckled. Suddenly Daniel sniffed and Mei saw his concerned look, looking outside and seeing a small snowflake drop and discomfort overtook the two.
