One Year Later

Riya's POV

"Hi to you, too," I tell Taehyung laughingly as I open my apartment door to reveal him.

He pushes his way in, purposefully ignoring the punching bag with his face on it.

"Riya," he says with too much gusto for seven in the morning. "I've been trying to reach you."

"I just woke up." I jut my hip out, giving him a playful look. "What do you want?"

"It's literally your birthday tomorrow." He throws his hands up in comical despair. "What do you think I want?"

"Late birthday preparations?"

"Uh, yeah. I would think so, seeing as your 21st birthday has to be perfect." He follows me to the kitchen where I offer him a cup of coffee. He accepts, holding his hand out as I pour it. "I need to verify a few things."

"Verify away."

He takes a sip first, about to launch into full verification mode when Jungkook steps out of my room, his hair ruffled from minutes before.

Taehyung gapes at him before looking at me. He looks back at Jungkook. Repeats. Then, "What were you two doing at such a time as this?!"

I hide a blush in a sip of coffee. "None of your business."

Taehyung scoffs. "I can't believe this. I could've walked into some funny business, and you have the audacity to tell me that it's none of my business? I'll have you know it would've been if I was scarred for life."

Jungkook chuckles, burying his hands in his hoodie pockets on his way to me. "You'll be fine."

Taehyung shudders. "No, I seriously won't."

Amused, Jungkook and I share a look. Without meaning to, we get caught in it, and he hums at my expression before leaning down to kiss me.

Taehyung gags. "Gross! Keep it in the bedroom."

Jungkook smiles into the kiss, pressing a few more to my lips before resuming his height. Putting his arm around my waist, he tells Taehyung, "It would've been kept in the bedroom if you hadn't decided to come here."

Taehyung's unamused. "Whatever. Just keep the PDA to zero while I'm here, got it?"

I wave him off. "Just verify what you need to verify."

"Well," he drawls after a moment. "All the food and drinks are verified except for a few dishes."

"I don't mind what we eat," I relay. "I already told you, Tae. I'll eat anything that's there."

"That's what you keep saying, but Riya. I'll have you know that food for your 21st is important! What if there's nothing there that you like?"

"Highly doubt it," I sing-song. "Now what else?"

He turns a bit red. "Well...there's one thing. Just...kind of one thing, not really, I guess, but, well, I was hoping that maybe—" He takes a deep breath before rushing out, "The guest list is full, but can I bring one more person?"

Jungkook quirks a brow. "One more person?"

"And what guest list?" I laugh. "Was that Jin's idea?"

Taehyung grunts. "Yeah, to keep everything organized, and he said if I wanted to change anything, I would have to ask you first, so..." He clasps his hands over the cup hopefully. "Can I bring someone?"

Intrigued, I wonder, "Who is it? Do I know them?"

"Uh...maybe?" He sucks air in through his cheeks. "I don't know."

Jungkook hums thoughtfully. "Do tell."

Taehyung sighs, looking embarrassed. "It's just...I don't know." After a second, he blurts, "A girl."

My mouth drops. "No way! What's her name?"

"No way?" he scoffs. "Please. Is it that hard to believe I have a girl?" A beat pass, and he adds, "Don't answer that."

I giggle. "You know I didn't mean it like that."

"Whatever," he sighs. "And...her name's Mila."

"That's a pretty name," I encourage. "She should totally come. I think it would be fun."

His eyes light up. "Really?"

"Yeah, of course!"

He grins. "Then it's settled! You'll be meeting her tomorrow at your fabulous party. Super fabulous because I'm helping to plan it, might I add."

"You might add," I joke.

"Thank you, thank you," he chirps. "Now that that's out of the way, what's for breakfast?"

"How about you come back in an hour?" Jungkook says.

Taehyung wrinkles his nose. "Ew."

"Let me remind you," he returns laughingly. "You're the one who showed up uninvited."

"Ugh, fine," he groans. "I'll go get breakfast from a drive-thru or something." He takes a big gulp of coffee before staring at it. Looking at me, he reveals, "I'm taking this with me, but I'll return it tomorrow at the party."

I laugh. "Okay."

He shuffles to the front door, gripping the cup tightly. "Don't do anything until I'm at least 500 feet from your door. I don't want to hear anything."

I blush, laughing and shooing him away.

"Love you!" he calls to both of us before closing the door.

I can hear him running away from the door, and I giggle, looking up to meet an equally as amused Jungkook.

He smiles, caressing the bottom of my chin. "How's your coffee?"

"Amazing, of course, since I made it," I joke, lifting it up. "Do you want some?"

He leans down to kiss me, his tongue swiping out to trail along my bottom lip. He lavishes attention on it before leaning back enough to murmur, "It's good."

I bat his chest playfully, setting the cup down and lacing my arms around his neck. He lifts me, letting my legs encircle his waist as he takes me back to my room.

"Where were we?" he asks against my lips.

I'm almost smiling too much to continue kissing him, and his smile begins to match mine.

"I don't know," I murmur, my tone playful.

"How about we found out?"

I giggle my agreement, squealing as drops me onto the bed. He lowers himself to me, pressing scattered kisses along my face.

"The door," I mumble into them, my mind whirling and easily becoming drunk off of him. "We have to lock the front door."

"Mm," he agrees breathlessly, and he kisses me a few more times before pulling away to lock the door.

On the way back, he jumps onto the bed beside me, making me laugh when the movement causes me bounce. His laughter joins mine, and we soon fall back into an easy rhythm.

"I love you," he tells me, his soft hands that caress my body showing me what love feels like. "My sweet girl."

"I love you," I breathe out, my arms around his neck to keep him close. "So much, Jungkook. So much."

And it's good, and it isn't scary, but nothing with him is ever scary. It's always good.

And I don't think I'll ever feel like a color again. Not a good one, not a bad one. I think I'll be me.

I think I'll just be Riya.
