Riya's POV
"I have a good lawyer," I tell Jin over the phone a week later, propping it against my shoulder.
I nod to the moving company worker and mouth, 'Over there' to his question. He shows a thumbs up and carries my bedside table to my room.
"What's their name?" Jin asks. "Do they have good reviews? What are some difficult cases they've won?"
"Seic would know more about that," I respond. "but they've won a lot of domestic abuse cases. I've looked into them, I promise."
"What's their name?"
"Why? So you can scour the internet and call me in the next hour with how they're not good enough?"
"Name, Riya."
I shake my head. "Daesul. She works at Chan and Associates."
He grunts. "I've heard of them."
"Yeah? They up to your par?"
"Riya."
"Jin, I know you're worried, but trust me. I can find a good lawyer. I'm not completely incompetent."
"I never said you were."
"Well. Just in case you thought it."
"I didn't think it," he retorts. "but thanks for covering all of your bases."
It's quiet for a moment before his voice returns. "How are you feeling?"
"I'm honestly trying not to think about it too much right now," I admit. "When I do, I'm afraid I might dissociate."
"It's okay to do that. Just make sure you're in a safe place first."
"It happens without warning."
"No tell-tale signs?"
"There are, but if I'm at work, there's really nothing I can do about it."
He sighs. "Try to take it easy when you're alone. If you don't want to be alone, call one of us."
My heart pulls. "Thank you."
"That's what friends are for, Riya."
I breathe deeply. "Thank you. I'm—yeah, I'm going to get back to it. I want to organize this place once the workers leave."
"Send pictures once you do."
"You can come over once it's done."
"When will that be?" he questions.
"I'll text you."
"All right, kid. I'll talk to you then."
"Okay."
I hang up and slip my phone into my pocket.
Chansoo will be served today.
My fingers clench at my sides as I try to ignore how terrified I am.

I usher Jin inside my new apartment around 7 PM.
I started decorating around 6 AM, and everything is finally in its place. It offered an amazing distraction from my thoughts, but as soon as it was close to being over, I texted Jin and told him to come over.
"Hey." He pulls his shoes off. "You've been busy."
I twine my hands together anxiously. "What do you think of the entrance? I bought some new décor."
"It's cute."
"Yeah?" My shoulders slump. "I kind of just picked out whatever was in front of me."
"It looks good."
