I barely made it into the house and to the couch before falling onto it in tears. He stayed with her. It's over. Margret must have been at Jim's and must have heard me come in because she walked in and sat down on the couch and pulled me into a hug. I buried my face in her shoulder and sobbed. There was a knock at the door. Mar moved to get up and open it, but I grabbed her arm. "If it's him don't let him know I'm here." I pleaded. She nodded before getting up and going to the door. "Margret I know she's here. I have to talk to her." I heard Clay say. He pushed his way through the door. He walked into the living room and I jumped up off the couch to put some distance between us. "There's nothing left to say." I said moving towards the stairs. He looked at me with pleading eyes. "Please?" I shook my head turning and walking up the stairs. I heard foot steps start to follow me up the stairs. Before I could say anything Margret did. "Stop. Turn around. Walk away. Leave her be." I went up to the guest bedroom and flopped down on the bed.
Margret P.O.V.
"Stop. Turn around. Walk away. Leave her be." I told Clay as he was following her up the stairs. He turned around and looked at me. "I just wanted to explain everything and try to make it better. I wanted to fix this." I shook my head. "She was counting on you. You didn't show. She waited 2 hours. She gave you a choice and you made it. She's trying to mend. Let her. You can't fix this because you're the one who broke it. So walk away." With tears in his eyes he nodded and walked back down the stairs and towards the door. He turned before opening it. "Give her my apologies." I just nodded and watched him open the door and walk out.
