"What is your problem, Oberyn?" Joanna shouted at him. He brutally took her away from the city and didn't talk to her the whole way back home, he didn't even answer her questions. They barely got there and left immediately. She didn't have time to really enjoy it there. She felt like they had only been there for a few minutes. They got away from there so quickly.

She hated it.

She hated the possessive side of him that awoke every time she was around another man.

She closed the door loudly behind her. And unless there was a maid in their chambers who was cleverly hidden in the next room, they were alone. They could have the conversation in private and only their ears would hear it all.

"You had enough alcohol in such a short time. I'd rather take you home than take care of you there." Oberyn answered calmly. Not a hint of anger or jealousy on his face. He simply kept a stony, yet calm expression on his face. And that turned Joanna on even more.

He pretended that nothing was happening, but it was. Because she thought it was stupid that he took her away because of the alcohol. She had to laugh. She was walking around the room when at the same time she tore the mask from her face and threw it on the table, which she passed by at that very moment.

Joanna placed both palms on her forehead and ran them through her hair, which she smoothed back with that movement. Finally, she lowered her hands and brought her palms together, bringing them to her lips. She closed her eyes and pointed her hands at Oberyn.

"What did you hear?" she breathed out the question. Her hands were still pointed at him. She was sure he had heard the last thing Tylan said to her. But what he heard from her monologue, she had no idea. And she hoped he hadn't heard anything from it.

Oberyn turned his back on her. He walked over to the window and stared into the darkness that spread across Braavos. He was to leave for Neserah in a few hours. He was determined to go there. Especially after what he heard.

"You don't believe me. Even after all this time." That was his answer to her question. He didn't want to answer her directly. That would only make things easier for her. He might have made it easier for himself and closed their debate faster. But no. He had to wrap it up differently. And expect who knows how long discussions about it.

Joanna shook her head and pushed the chair away from the table where she sat down. She dug her elbows into her thighs and buried her face in her hands. She didn't believe him. But could anyone wonder? She couldn't control her own thoughts. And even though she tried to convince herself that it really wasn't true, she just couldn't do it. It was all stronger than herself.

"You know what hurts me the most, Joanna?" he turned back to her. He raised his eyebrows and balled one of his hands into a fist.

She put her hands away from her face and looked up at him. With that alone, she signaled him to continue talking. It made no sense to answer him verbally at that moment.

"Despite everything I have done for you, you think I love you because of him. Are you really that stupid to think that? I killed Ellaria for you. I threatened my own daughters because of you. I fought with my brother because of you. And you still think I did all of this only for Robert. Don't forget that when I took Ellaria's life, I didn't know that we would actually have that boy."

She was stupid to still think that. Oberyn had shown so many times that he loved her, and it wasn't because of their offspring. And she still overlooked it. She couldn't write it down in her mind. She could not come to terms with the fact that everything was not always as she thought it was.

"But you believed that it would be a boy. You were so convinced that we would have a son that you did everything for me. And what would you have done if it was another of the many daughters you have?" she got up from the chair and walked over to him.
