Reincarnated as Nezuko

Chapter 5

Urokodaki's P.O.V.

That night while the kids were sleeping, I wrote a letter to Kagaya Ubuyashiki asking for a meeting.

Dear Master,

I hope you are doing well. I wish I was writing to you under different circumstances, but unfortunately, that is not the case. Please read this whole letter before you come to a final decision.

A few days ago, I received a letter from a former pupil of mine, Giyuu Tomioka, the current Water Hashira. He told me that he ran into a pair of siblings while on the hunt for demons. However, there was something about these siblings that was different. One of them had been turned into a demon. Before you overthink this listen to what I'm about to tell you. Tomioka was going to eliminate the sister, the one who became a demon. But the brother protected her. He begged Tomioka not to kill his sister. Apparently, she was all he had left because hours earlier he had come home to find his whole family dead except her.

The brother, Tanjiro attacked Tomioka for him to let his sister, Nezuko go. He was able to catch the Hashira by surprise, he made an impression on him. And if that isn't something then what I'm about to tell you is going to be even more surprising. To his surprise, Nezuko was able to get out of Tomioka's grasp and kick him away. Once she did this, she went toward her brother and protected him. Tomioka asked why she was protecting him, and she said "Because he is my brother. He's the only one I have left. And I will never eat a human. Yes, the smell of blood is alluring, but I'm controlling my hunger. I don't want to hurt anyone, unless necessary. The only ones that I will hurt are demons." Yes, you heard correctly. She is willing to harm demons.

Tomioka asked me to consider taking Tanjiro under my wing and training him. I decided to see what he saw in these siblings myself, so as they were heading to my home, I decided that I would meet them halfway.

I met Nezuko first. She didn't seem surprised by my appearance. She seemed relatively docile. She told me that she and her brother ran into a demon at a temple, who was surrounded by corpses and eating one of them. After a minute or two of talking, she realized that she left her brother to deal with the demon by himself. She told me that she was going to go help him and she would meet me at the temple.

Once I got closer to the temple, I could smell how much blood had been spilled. If I hadn't witnessed it myself, I would never believe it. Nezuko was about 50 feet from the temple where the smell of blood was coming from and was not affected by it. I didn't show it but I was shocked and amazed by her self-control.

She stepped back so I could talk to Tanjiro who was heading toward the demon's severed head with a small knife. I told him that wouldn't work. He contemplated what would work and picked up a large rock. However, he hesitated. Seconds after he hesitated, I saw a blur, and that blur was Nezuko. She took the rock from her brother and crushed the demon's head with it. She then told him, "You can never hesitate Tanjiro, it might cost you your life." She then proceeded to run back to the temple right before sunrise. Tanjiro was in shock about what happened, so I went to go bury the dead. After I was done Tanjiro found me and we had a brief conversation. The main thing I told him was to never let Nezuko kill an innocent person. And if she did, he must kill her and then kill himself. We went back to the temple where Nezuko proceeded to tell us that she heard everything. She turned to Tanjiro and said, "But he's right Tanjiro. If I ever eat a human, don't hesitate to take me out, I couldn't live with myself if I did that." She then turned to me and said, "I want to let you know that I will only ever harm a person if they attack me or my brother. I won't kill them unless necessary. However, that will be the last resort. I will try to negotiate or incapacitate them first." I was hesitant at first, but I agreed with her terms. If you think about it, anyone will do that if they or their family were attacked. Self-defense.
