You groaned when you heard your phone alarm abruptly blare in your ears, the familiar sound shaking you from your slumber. Your eyes slowly fluttered open as you sat up. You were quick to drag yourself out of bed and head to the bathroom to freshen up, trying your best to shake the grogginess from your body after having just woken up.

Once you were ready for the day and dressed in your new school uniform, you ate a quick breakfast, before grabbing your backpack and essentials such as your phone, wallet, and keys. With that, you rushed out of your home.

You're a high school junior, and today's your first day at a new school. It's already two months into the school year, so you're feeling a bit anxious about the sudden switch, but your mother did her best to assure you that everything will work out. Your mother is a doctor and was supposed to drive you to school for your first day, but she left a note this morning explaining that she was called in at around four a.m, much to your dislike. But you'll just have to suck it up and walk.

While walking, you were taken aback by an arm suddenly slinging around your shoulder, before another girl's face appeared next to yours. You eyed her with a shocked look plastered across your face. "Who- uh, who are you?" You questioned, tightening your grip on your backpack. You then noticed that she was wearing a matching school uniform.

The girl grinned and used her free hand to take the strawberry lollipop out of her mouth. "G'morning! My name is Lee Hyunseo! I'm a junior like you!" She exclaimed cheerfully after examining your ID badge.

You relaxed after hearing her introduction. Phew, she's just a schoolmate, you thought. You offered her a smile. She then spoke up again, her smile similar to your amiable one. "So, friends?" She asked.

You chuckled and nodded. "Sure," you answered.

You and Hyunseo-who told you to call her by her nickname, Leeseo-later entered the school building after a ten-minute walk. She used the fifteen minutes you both had left before class started to show you around, and then, before dropping you off at your first class of the day, told you that she would introduce you to her best friend.

Which lands you here, walking to the cafeteria three classes later with your arm linked with Hyunseo's. The younger girl was going on about something funny that happened in one of her classes. You giggled here and there as she spoke animatedly. Once the two of you reached the cafeteria, however, she piped down and began to scan the room with her eyes, before they landed on a particular person. She began to drag you towards a table in the distance.

Hyunseo grinned brightly as she made you sit down next to her at the table once you reached it. She then hugged the girl who was also sitting there. "Gaeul-unnie! Hi!" Hyunseo squealed.

The other girl, Gaeul, scowled playfully, but hugged Hyunseo back and patted her head. "Yah, you saw in class this morning, and you see me everyday," Gaeul complained.

Gaeul then looked at you. You grew nervous, but calmed down once she showed you a small smile. She bowed her head towards you. "Nice to meet you, Yoonah-ssi. Leeseo was talking about you non-stop in first period today," she teased. Hyunseo smacked her shoulder.

You giggled. "Nice to meet you too, sunbaenim," you replied.

"Please, call me Unnie."

"Okay. Nice to meet you, Unnie."

Over the next thirty minutes, you, Hyunseo, and Gaeul continued to talk about random things, sharing many smiles and laughs with each other. Gaeul even told you that she'll be, in her words, "the big sister you wished you had." That statement warmed your heart. You had previously been worried about not making friends, and now you're only one day in and you already have a big sister figure and a little sister figure.
