Troublesome Work -6-

You froze in fear when you woke up, the unknown surroundings causing your heart to skip a beat. Luckily, you immediately reminded yourself of where you were and how you got there, especially since Paimon was snoring loudly by your side. That's right, you were staying at the Knights of Favonius in the city of Mondstadt.

To think, just yesterday morning you had been hunting for berries to eat for breakfast and now was in the place you desperately tried to stay away from. You groaned and rubbed your hands over your face. What a day.

Glancing over at the still dead asleep pixie next to you, you carefully drew yourself up from the bed and moved towards the chair where your freshly washed clothes sat. Once you were dressed, you left the room after giving the still resting fairy a gentle, fleeting glance.

The knights' kitchen was nice and quaint, filled up with all the necessaries and an over abundance of coffee. However, you were not alone. A girl with a long gray bob cut was there. She dressed in a formal mix of silver, gold, white, and pink with a couple of roses around her. Her bright lime green eyes turned to your hesitant form in surprise before greeting you with a welcoming smile. "Ah. Good morning. The knights informed me of some visitors. My name is Noelle, maid of the Knights of Favonius." She said with her hands folded in front of her.

You gave her a shy, greeting smile. "Well, good morning, Noelle. Nice to meet you. I'm Y/N L/N." She clasped her hands together with a charming smile. "Oh, I'm well aware. I have to say, your actions yesterday with Stormterror truly inspired me. Such heroic acts. You've probably heard this many times before, but I must thank you for your work on behalf of Mondstadt." Noelle said with her breathy voice and stars in her eyes.

"Ah, you're too sweet, but Aether was really the star of the show." You said while sweat dropping. The less attention on you, the better. Plus, Aether really did stand out between the two of you. At least, in your opinion.

Noelle didn't seem convinced, but politely agreed nevertheless. "Of course. I have prepared a Mondstadt classic for breakfast: Sticky Honey Roast. Hopefully it's to your liking. Also, would you like to drink? Coffee? Tea? Please, don't hesitate to ask."

Thinking for a moment, you decided on (drink of choice). Even before you had completely finished your sentence, Noelle was hurrying to get your breakfast for you with witty swiftness. "Right away!" She chirped, turning away and allowing you to see her Geo vision atop her large pink bow.

Before you knew it, Aether hauled himself into the kitchen while rubbing his eyes and yawning. He greeted you tiredly, practically falling onto you when he sat down. "Ah... I'm so tired." He mumbled out against your side. You hummed a bit and took a drink of your beverage. "Really? Not sleeping out in the wild has me feeling better than ever."

With the Sticky Honey Roast on the table, Paimon burst into the room with drool leaking out of the side of her mouth. Luckily a pile of food quickly subsided her menace side. You had invited Noelle to join you, the half asleep blonde leaning against you, and the pixie eating with both hand, to join you. Unfortunately, she politely declined, staying she had chores to attend to, but would happily join another time.

After she left, Aether sat up and stretched. "So... what's today's plan?" He asked, picking up his utensils. Meanwhile, you and Paimon used your hands, but at least you were being somewhat civil while doing it.

"Jean needed more time to figure out her plan. At least, that's what she told me." You confessed. Paimon raised an eyebrow. "Huh. She didn't tell Aether or Paimon about that." The girl huffed.

You shrugged nonchalantly and continued. "So we've the whole day and maybe even tomorrow to ourselves." Paimon picked her face up from her plate with stars in her eyes. "Let's head to The Good Hunter!"
