I was in the kitchen keeping an eye on the food while he showered and the only reason I was here and not at home was because Zahra was spending the night with her aunts.
I was invited to go too but I didn't feel comfortable going now that their brother and I weren't together anymore. They didn't really care about that because they still loved me and to them I was still a part of the family.
"Weh yuh gone?" He asked as he walked up behind me and his arm snaked around my neck.
"I zoned out a little bit."
"Not infront of the stove you don't, nuh play like dat." He stepped back and I moved away from the stove. "Mummy a come over soon, hope yuh nuh mind."
"It's your place, you can do whatever you want."
"Mi tell yuh bout dat enuh."
"But I didn't say anything wrong, did I?"
"Mi a try mek sure yuh comfortable round mi at all times."
"It's fine." His mom was this nice little lady who gave good advice and his sister was just the absolute sweetest.
"Come here." I hesitated as I always did but eventually walked into his open arms that he wrapped around my shoulders and I lay my head down on his chest.
He wasn't buff like such man but his body was super nice and he was very handsome, almost too handsome but it suited him.
"What's on your mind?"
"Just tired."
"You know where the bed is."
"Okay."
"I'll call you when the food is done." He pulled away and turned my body around, pushing me gently in the direction of the bedroom.
°°°°°°°°°°°°°°"Shav, it's happening again." I whispered into the phone feeling my chest getting tight again like an invisible force was pushing down on it and I felt like I couldn't breathe.
"Where's Zahra?"
"She's not home." Trying to suck in as much air as I could so I didn't pass out because I knew that's exactly where I was headed.
"Mi nah guh reach yuh pan time. Shit." I heard shuffling as I rubbed my chest trying to get rid of some of the pain.
"Mi nuh deh home."
"Suh call him."
"Him a sleep, mi nuh wah wake him."
"Wake him up." I stood up on wobbly legs, my head feeling woozy as I unlocked the bathroom door, opened it and walked out. "Di bathroom nuh safe either Yan cause yuh can faint weh an lick yuh head pan smthn."
"I know." I made it to the bed and gently shook him making him stir in his sleep. "Akeel."
"Hmmm." His eyes fluttered open before he stretched and sat up seeing me standing there. "Are you okay?"
