~ Chapter Eight ~

He spins off at such high speed and Madi constantly tries to talk to him on the radio. "Lando??? Lan??? Baby?? Lan, please answer!!!! Lan!!???" Madi screams over the radio but he still doesn't reply. She holds Leo close and tries to hold back her tears. "Daddy?" Leo says while looking at the screen showing Lando's car. Madi immediately covers Leo's eyes and lets a few tears fall. "Please be ok..." she whispers to herself. They end up carrying him out the car. He is completely unconscious but still breathing. He gets taken straight to the hospital and it takes Madi ages to get Zak to let her go to the hospital but he finally lets her.

Lando wakes up in a hospital room with his head absolutely pounding. Madi walks in with Leo and looks over at Lando who is struggling to keep his eyes open. She walks over to him and strokes his head while standing next to him. "I shouldn't have let you go in the car... I had a bad feeling and I ignored it. If I didn't ignore it, we wouldn't be in this situation" she says. "It's not your fault" he grumbles while still in pain. "It's ok, baby. just rest, ok. you're gonna be ok once you start resting" she says. "I love you both so much.." he says. "I love you too, Lan" she says while holding his hand. "Love you, daddy" Leo says. "I'm guessing everything hurts" she says. "Yeah, it's pretty bad. But it's worth it, knowing you and Leo are here with me" he says while wincing in pain. "At least we can make it a bit better. I also spoke to the team and they said that you probably shouldn't race tomorrow because of this and they will get the reserve driver in. I know you really wanted to win this one and get a good start to the season but we have plenty of races to do well. and please don't blame yourself for losing control of the car..." she says. Lando knows she's right. He can't drive like this. He nods and slowly starts to fall asleep. "Have a good sleep, my love" she says.

When he wakes up after a couple hours he feels Leo's small arms wrapped around his arm. "Hey, baby boy" Lando says as he sees Leo cuddling with him. "He was begging to cuddle with you and I needed to grab some stuff from our hotel room so I just let him cuddle with you" Madi says. Leo slowly starts to wake up and kisses Lando. "Awww. I told you he's a daddy's boy" she says. "Maybe you're right..." he says. "I'm always right" she says with a laugh.

They both fall asleep on the bed with Leo after squashing to get into the tiny bed and Lando starts to have a nightmare. "Madi..." he says while still asleep. "Yeah, baby? you ok?" she says while he squeezes her hand again. "Madi..." he says again. She can tell he's having a nightmare. "Lan?? Lan, wake up" she says. He finally wakes up but struggles to breathe. "Madi... I can't breathe..." he says while shaking. "Baby, I've got you. nothing's gonna happen. I won't let it" she says while stroking his head. "Lan? was the nightmare about me & Leo?" she asks. "Yeah... You were both in danger... and I couldn't save you" he says. Madi knows how much Lando cares about them. Lando has become so overprotective since becoming a dad to Leo. "what type of danger, baby?" She asks. "It was... confusing. There were shadows and darkness, and you were trapped. I could feel your fear, Madi. It was horrifying" he says while wiping tears as he looks at Leo again who is still sleeping. "Leo's ok, baby. He's not gone anywhere. We're ok" she says. Leo slowly starts to wake up and looks at Madi. "Hey, baby boy. Did you have a good sleep" she asks. Leo nods and cuddles up to Lando "be careful, Leo. Daddy is still in a little bit of pain" she says. "It's okay, Leo. Daddy's just a little sore, that's all" he says while holding Leo best he can. "best daddy ever" Leo says while holding onto Lando. "Aww, thank you, buddy. You're the best son ever" he says as he ruffles Leo's curls. "I should probably go change Leo's nappy. I can smell it from here" she says while picking up Leo. "Just don't do anything that will cause you pain" she adds. "I won't. I promise. Just try to enjoy some time with Leo and relax. You deserve a break from all of this" he says. "I wouldn't call it relaxing. his shits smell like a fucking dumpster. I might pass out from the fumes" she says with a laugh. "Hey! Watch your mouth around my baby!" he says playfully. "I can say what I like, I was the one who pushed him out of me!! he's my baby more than yours" she says with sass which just makes Lando even sassier. They call him sassy Scorpio for a reason. "Well, if you're gonna be like that about it, maybe I should just take Leo back and let you deal with the consequences" he says while pretending to pull Leo away from her. "Oh wow. you're taking my baby. I'm gonna die without him" she says while pretending to die. "Well, you better start learning how to live without him then. Because if you don't stop with that sassy attitude, I'll take him away for real!" He smirks, teasing her as he knows he wouldn't really do that. "Sure you will" she says. "Ok, I should really go change him" she says. "Yeah, it stinks here. Go ahead and take him" he says with a small laugh.
