"Chimeras." Noah said as he faced the board with us, his arms crossed in stress.
"Two dead Chimeras—" Stiles said,
I nodded. "—And eight new ones—"
"So, that's ten in all." Malia pointed out from her spot by the couch.
"I'm thinking maybe eleven..." Noah took out a headshot of Donovan and pinned it to the board.
I glanced at Stiles, my hand brushing his arm momentarily and taking some of his anxiety, getting him to relax a little.
"Our station tech guys confirmed something for me...they said both the holding cell lock and cameras could have malfunctioned because of something electromagnetic. You said that, uh, these guys—" Noah gestured to the board full of people.
"Dread Doctors," Malia said.
"Are we really calling them that?" Noah asked.
"So, they broke Donovan out?" she asked.
"It's how they got into Eichen, isn't it?" Noah said.
"Donovan's a Chimera." Malia noted.
"Yeah, but...is he a failure like Lucas and Tracy?" Noah asked.
"If he is, he's probably dead." I said with a shrug.
"Not until I've seen a body." Noah said, then looked back at his son. "You're uncharacteristically quiet..."
Stiles nodded awkwardly "Yeah...sorry, I'm, uh...I'm just trying to think about it. Uh...these are all teenagers, right? So, now shouldn't we be trying to figure out why these teenagers? If the Dread Doctors, if they went through all that—burying them, killing them, breaking one of them out of jail..."
"They couldn't have been chosen at random." His father said.
"They had to have something in common." Malia nodded. "Something that made them right for this experiment."
"Something that made them special." Stiles said, and jumped as my phone rang in my pocket.
"Sorry," I took my phone out of my pocket. "It's Argent. Forgot I was supposed to meet him to discuss the situation."
"Since when do you meet with Argent?" Stiles asked skeptically.
"Since a few weeks ago. You can calm down, Stiles. All we do is talk about the latest threat, and how to kill it." I said, placing a hand on his arm.
