Today was yet another boring day at work. The good thing was that tomorrow would be the weekend off, and Jay could relax. That's all he could think about.
The incident from lunch was still lingering in the back of his head, but he wasn't too varied about it. Sunghoon was in his office, discussing something with Heeseung. The company was planning on collaborating with the Kang company, meaning Jay would most likely run into Taehyun around the building. He, of course, didn't mind that at all. Perhaps he could learn a few things from him here and there; making connections and having connections in this work field is considered substantially useful, and Jay couldn't miss the opportunity– when the piece of cake was right in front of him.
The latter sighed, placing the stack of files on the large, oval centered table. The papers inside the files rustled, some slipping beneath the cover. The spiral lamp hanging above the table shone down, highlighting the files. Firstly, he had to arrange the files, sorting and reading each and every paper carefully, and now he has to place the same files in their corresponding places. Though it might sound easy, it is very difficult to tell which files belong to whoever.
There were hushed chatters slipping through the glass door, indicating that the employees were on the way to the room. Jay hurriedly grabbed the files, opening and reading them and trying his utmost best to be as accurately representable as possible. One slip up, and all the hard work he bored would be sent to waste.
The door creaked open, and there stood Yeonjun, a meek smile on his lips. "You good?" He asked, entering inside and gently closing the door behind him. Jay looked up, relieved that it was just Yeonjun. Out of all the people— other than Jungwon, of course, Yeonjun was his second favorite employee (maybe a friend) who would treat him like a younger brother; he was understanding, patient and most of all, he was kind. Jay hummed, directing his gaze back to the files. "I just need to place them where they belong." He said. "Are they on their way?" He asked while walking around the room in smooth steps. He could make out a light hum from the others, and a second later Yeonjun was right in front of him, hands displayed out in front of the other's. Jay looked up at him in perplexity, and Yeonjun only chuckled. "I'll help you. And I'll also teach you." He stated with a small smile, and the younger hummed, eager to learn further.
After explaining everything and helping Jay with the files, Yeonjun walked out of the room and after a few seconds, people started entering the meeting room, conversing with one another. Jay once again stood in the corner, hands folded in front of his waist. His eyes darted to the door, fists clenching as he tried to look for a specific someone. His eyebrows knitted in distress once he noticed that everyone in the office was inside the meeting room, except for the CEO himself, Park Sunghoon.
Heeseung also entered the room with Jungwon beside him, seemingly discussing something important as Jungwon looked really focused to even notice Jay. They sat in their respective spots, eyes glued to whatever was written in the files. Once again, Jay wondered where Sunghoon was. And after a while of waiting, Sunghoon finally entered the room, clearing his throat along the way. His eyes flickered onto Jay for a second, but then looked away, plastering a thin smile. Jay stiffened in his position, preparing himself for what's ahead of him, because the last time he remembered, he did his part professionally, fortunately.
"Alright, we are going to discuss product ideas and their management. Starting off with the designing team. Show us your creations." Sunghoon started off, and the designers immediately started discussing and sharing their ideas with the others in the room.

"That concludes our meeting. If you have further suggestions, questions on any comments, make sure to email my secretary or approach him to ask." Sunghoon ended the meeting, shutting off the screen. Everyone bowed formally, then walked out the room. Jay sighed for the nth time today, glad that he wasn't called on specifically.
"Jay, did you write out your suggestions during the meeting?" Sunghoon asked, approaching the younger. "Yes, sir. I have written down what I think would be the best suited for this company depending on the demographics." Jay responded, showing the file to Sunghoon. The latter read the file carefully, brows knitting together. Jay also noticed how Sunghoon's lips would curve into a small pout when trying to read something while using his utmost attention.
"This is pretty good. It ties in with what the designing team had said. Great job, keep up the good work." Jay's lips formed into a lopsided smile, as he bowed. "Thank you."
"W-well, we should get back to the office now. I have some things to send you." Sunghoon changed the topic, eyes flicking over the room. Jay nodded, standing right behind Sunghoon as the older walked out of the room, greeting some employees.
"Mr. Park." A female co-worker, Sullyoon, approached Sunghoon. She looked hesitant. Jay assumed she was from the HR department as she had a light blue ID hanging around her neck. "Can I discuss something with you?" Sunghoon looked at Jay for a split second and then back to her. "Sure," he responded, plastering a thin smile, like always. Jay was about to follow behind Sunghoon per usual, but then Sullyoon said, "Can I just discuss it with you?" She asked Sunghoon, and the other was baffled, a little taken aback. "Sure..." he said, following her farther away from Jay, as the latter just stood there confused.
His mind could only comprehend one reasoning: that being that she was going to confess her feelings. I mean, who would ask for an alone, secluded meeting with the boss, unless it is a well- respected employee.
So Jay waited, trying to read the thin lines of words falling through their lips. It was difficult, as the distance made it harder to read the words forming from their lips.
Finally after 4 minutes– Jay assumed– Sunghoon walked back, waving lightly to Sullyoon. Jay raised his brow in suspicion, hands clutching tightly in front of his waist. Sunghoon stopped in front of him, clearing his throat.
"So basically," he started off, looking around the office, "let's go to the office first, i'll tell you there." Jay nodded, very eager to know what both of them discussed.
Once they entered the office, Sunghoon sighed, leaning on the corner of Jay's table, running a hand through his hair. Jay traced light footsteps towards him, standing right in front of him.
"Sullyoon... she wants me to throw a party in the building— or like, take the employees to the club for New Years." He said, and Jay felt ridiculous for thinking such indefinite things in the first place— how could he even come up with such a reasoning.
"Oh..." he whispered, fiddling with his fingers out of habit. He looked down, thinking, then averted his gaze back up to meet Sunghoon's. "Sure." He said, attempting to sound as normal. Sunghoon tilted his head to the side, intrigued by the response. The idea of clubbing was never something Sunghoon really thought about– as it didn't sound ethical.
"You're okay with that?" Sunghoon asked, folding his arms in front of his chest. "I thought you'd insist on a break, rather than a party— but that's fine."
"I mean, if you're okay with that, of course. I feel like the employees want to have fun in a while, and some have been working here for a very long time. I think they'd appreciate your efforts to lighten the mood."
Sunghoon seemed to be drowning in his thoughts, deciding whether a party or clubbing would be a good idea. Now that he does think about it, he hasn't done anything "fun" for the company ever since he'd been the heir. He has only done what his father had set out for him, in the grand open platter. It was his job to fulfill his father's duties, and that's what his initial goal was.
Would his father be mad? He wondered.
His gaze lingered on Jay, thinking for a while in the demeaning silence. It also made Jay feel a bit at ease, knowing his senior was considering his choice. He asked for his opinion over something other than work itself.
Sunghoon exhaled a soft sigh, nodding lightly. "Alright then. We'll do that." Sunghoon said with a genuine smile. Jay hummed and was about to say something further, but Sunghoon ruffled his hair gently, catching the other off guard.
"I wouldn't have done it if you didn't convince me. Thank you, Jay."
— My break is about to end GAHHH and I am pretty sure I am gonna be busy— meaning there will be slow updates :(
