The next morning arose, sun falling from the creaks of Jay's bedroom window. The moment his alarm blared through the phone screen, Jay's mind wandered back to last night. He knew for sure Sunghoon wouldn't remember anything he had done—or caused. He kind of hoped he didn't.
He got ready for the day, throwing feverish glances towards the wall connecting his apartment with Sunghoon's, hoping to find a source of sound murmur through the thin walls.
After preparing his usual attire, stuffing himself with a rolled omelet, Jay stepped out, locking the door and knocking on Sunghoon's. There was no sign of noise—nothing peering from the inside. It was quiet—empty, foremost. Jay tilted his head to the side, seemingly confused and a little alarmed.
'Is everything alright? What if someone broke in?' He pondered, eyes widening at the thought. He immediately called Sunghoon, hoping to hear the phone ring inside, but someone picked up.
"Jay? What happened?" Sunghoon croaked out, the flowing background chatters overlapping his words. "Sir, are you not home?"
"Ah, no..." Sunghoon spoke, walking to a quieter place, Jay assumed. "I- something happened. I had to leave early. Sorry for not informing you beforehand." Jay brushed his nape lightly, "It's alright, sir. Where are you at right now?" He asked, picking his steps and walking down the staircase. "My dad, he uh... he barged in my apartment in the morning. He rushed me to take me somewhere."
'Mr. Park came over?' Jay questioned. "Ah, I see..." his voice trailed off. "Well, I was heading to the office and was wondering if you were alright, since you weren't answering. I just wanted to call to make sure."
He could hear Sunghoon chuckle lightly on the other side of the line; he could almost imagine his fangs sneaking through the corner of his lips. "You were worried about me?" He asked, and Jay could see the dancing smirk falling upon his lips. "Well—I just had to make sure, you know..." he muttered, unlocking his car. "I am your designated driver." Sunghoon hummed on the other side of the line, "you're my favori—"
"Sunghoon! Long time no see!" Sunghoon's voice was interrupted by a voice sounding like a middle-aged man, approaching him. He sounded foreign to Jay. He was almost sure Sunghoon was gonna compliment him. He sat in the driver seat when Sunghoon spoke up again, "I have to go now, I'll see you." He said, voice phasing into a light murmur. Then, the line went quiet. It seemed like he was in a rush.
Jay sighed, starting the car and heading to work alone.

Upon arriving to work, like usually, Jay noticed the employees flurrying all around the building. He approached Jungwon who was carrying like—30 files at once—and asked him what the hell was going on.
"Mr. Park is here. I heard that's a big deal, so everyone is busy preparing for some kind of meeting." Jungwon said while placing the files on his table with a thud. He looked up, brows cocking. "You didn't know? I thought you'd be the first person to know since you're literally glued to him." Jay smacked him on the shoulder lightly, earning a gasp from the younger. "What?! Am I wrong?" Jay shook his head in disappointment, leaning on his table. "You're talking as if I sleep, eat, and shower with him or something."
Jungwon smirked, "Do you?" Jay blushed and shook his head. "shut up," he muttered. "So, Sunghoon isn't here right?" Jay asked and Jungwon hummed no in response. "He'll be arriving soon," jungwon spoke while skimming through a file, "This could be a rumor—but I think he's gonna engage Jang Wonyoung. I could be wrong though. That's why there's something happening."
Jay didn't like how his heart thrummed for a split second before flowing back to its normal state. "I heard her father is gonna be visiting the company today. Oh lord, it's gon' be one hell of a day today." Jungwon clicked his tongue, finally looking up at the older. "You alright?" he asked, noticing Jay staring ahead.
"Yeah, just uh tired. I had to carry his ass back to the apartment, and I would not wanna do that again. Ever." Jay turned his attention back to Jungwon, ignoring everything else—destructing his thoughts. "Well, um..." Jungwon whispered, leaning close to jay. "So, like, uh..." he spoke, hesitantly, "I messed up—like real time by the way." Jay's eyed him suspiciously, confused but interested. "What do you mean?" He asked, folding his arms above his chest. "What did you do now?"
"Listen! I—I was like wasted the fuck out of my brains—and I wasn't thinking straight! Can you fucking blame me?!" He whisper-shouted, obviously flustered.
"What did you even do? Push Heeseung on the bed and undress him?" Jay asked as a joke, but he didn't receive a response. Jungwon stared down at the floor, cheeks flushed. "No---" Jay gasped, "no fucking way! You actually did?!" he grabbed Jungwon's shoulder, making him look up. "You're not kidding?"
Jungwon sighed, removing his hands from his shoulder. "I really wasn't thinking properly, and then one thing led to another—lord, I didn't know how we even got to his bed, undressed and everything. Heeseung tried to be rational, pushing me away since I was drunk, but I forced myself onto him..." Jungwon spoke in hushed words, making sure not to be too loud. He looked up, his eyes melting the other boy.
Let's be honest, you wouldn't be able to do anything if Jungwon looked at you like that. He sighed, running a hand through his hair, "how should I apologize to him now? It'll be so awkward."
"Jungwon. I can't help you man, how do you—oh man..." Jay sighed, patting his shoulder. "I guess apologizing seems right. Just do it when the two of you are alone. I know it's gonna be fucking awkward—but just get over it and apologize. Blame everything on the alcohol."
"What are you both doing over here? We have a lot to do today, get moving." One of the seniors approached the two boys, pointing towards a direction, which meant they had to be separated. Jay bid Jungwon goodbye before following the senior.
"Jongseong, you should head to your office and prepare things for Mr. Park, Sunghoon's father. He's gonna be in his office today." Jay nodded, "also, be your best today. Mr. Park is very strict when it comes to regulating work. He'll fire you if you make a simple mistake." Jay gulped, bowing before making his way to the elevator. His mind drifted back to the party, where Sunghoon held Wonyoung close. They looked perfect together; something about the both just made sense. Jay fiddled with his fingers, eyes darting to his wrist watch. Just when the elevator came to a halt, Jay noticed Heeseung entering.
"Oh hey, good morning." Heeseung greeted, throwing his polite smile. "You know what's going on today?" He asked, standing beside the younger.
"I've heard about it. I am not so sure myself about what's going on." Jay said with a chuckle. He looked up, noticing Heeseung staring down at him. "Well it's a big day, I guess." Heeseung looked at the mirror beside him, tussling with his lightly. "For me it isn't. I've been working here, so just—a word of advice, don't overdo anything, just do what you do. Treat the guests how you treat Sunghoon and listen to them. That's all." He turned towards Jay, poking his head. "Don't worry too much, you'll be just fine."
Jay threw an awkward smile at him, nodding. "Yes, sir." He muttered. His curiosity was eating him alive, and he really wanted to question whether or not something had happened between Jungwon and him. But, it wasn't really his business, and by the looks of it, Heeseung hadn't bought up the topic either. So, he shouldn't pry.
The elevator door slid open, and Heeseung walked out, winking lightly at Jay before letting the other reach his floor. Since his floor was just above Heeseung's, he stepped out afterwards, sucking in the cold air. He fixed his beige coat, tugging on tie lightly before opening the door, halting in his steps.
"Miss Jang? I—what are you doing here?"
