Hanni pushed her door open, glad to have returned home in one piece.

She lazily threw her keys on the kitchen counter. Then, she walked over to her sofa and chucked her jacket and bag on it. She glanced at the wall clock.

12:48 pm

Hanni just sighed. Three good hours she reserved for studying were lost. She washed her hands and face. Hanni changed before sitting down at her desk.

Hanni didn't know how to feel. She didn't want to feel. She just wanted to numb her feelings and anguish. Hanni was in a tricky situation. She was still in love with the girl but Hanni knew full and well that Sunwoo was toxic.

Some of her questioned whether things would work out if they tried again. Another part told her that she made the right decision. Hanni didn't know what to think.

Hanni decided to focus on her studies for the time being. At least while she's head first into her notes and textbooks, she doesn't have to feel the immense mental and physical pain the breakup brought upon her.

She opened her medical terminology book and the rest of her flash cards were tucked between one of the pages. Hanni set a timer for an hour and thirty minutes. Without another thought, Hanni began to recite the definition of each root word. She occasionally stopped to take a sip of water but resumed quickly after. At the 30-minute mark, Hanni went to grab leftovers to eat since she hadn't eaten yet.

The timer ringing startled Hanni a bit. She quickly tidied up her desk and stationery. She still had an assignment to complete but she had no time to. She figured she would just do it when she returned.

Hanni took a taxi to Seoul National University Hospital. This was where her new job was. She got accepted for a position as a nurse. Hanni's dream wasn't just to be a nurse, she wanted to be an ER surgeon. But she knew she would have to work and study hard. Hanni was a little nervous, she had gotten used to the people she worked with at her previous job. The thought of having to build from the bottom up exhausted Hanni. On top of having to meet new people, Hanni had to study hard for exams. This medical exam would decide if Hanni could become a surgeon trainee. The stakes were high.

Hanni arrived at SNUH, tipped the taxi driver, and made her way through the front entrance.

She approached the front desk, showing the receptionist her QR code, and explaining why she was there. The receptionist scanned the QR code on Hanni's phone before rolling her chair back to open a file cabinet. She shuffled through for a moment, she pulled out a folder, closed the cabinet, and rolled back to her original position.

She handed Hanni a nurse ID along with a paper Hanni had to sign acknowledging Hanni received the ID card. The woman also gave Hanni a schedule of her first few days at the hospital.

"Wait a minute," Hanni said without looking up from the schedule.

"What's the matter?" The receptionist asked.

"Sorry, I'm a little confused. It says here that I will need to memorize the entire layout of floor 7 by Sunday. But I only have 3 shifts this week." Hanni showed the woman the paper, slightly puzzled.

The woman took a glance at the paper before responding, "Oh, I see what you mean. You will be given a personal tour by our nurse executive Lee Hyein. She's exceptional at making sure new nurses know everything needed. You're in good hands."

"Ahhh okay, I see. Thank you."

Hanni wrapped up signing her papers and headed out.

Hanni had to stop by the grocery store to pick up some ingredients for her meal prep. She knew that she would have little to no time during the weekday to cook so she planned ahead of time.

This week, Hanni decided to cook a Vietnamese chicken noodle soup called Miến gà. The dish reminded her of her grandmother's cooking and it had always given Hanni a warm feeling of love and nostalgia.

She made a mental note of the ingredients she needed.
- Onions
- Chicken
- Mushrooms
- Glass noodles

Hanni had the remainder of the ingredients at home already so she didn't need much, including a special seasoning salt her grandmother gave her.

After shopping for the ingredients, Hanni wanted to take the subway home but she was suddenly reminded of what happened the last time she was on a subway. Hanni wasn't going to risk it, she called a taxi home instead, even though it was more expensive.

When Hanni arrived home, she got to work immediately. She had to move fast, she still had work to do. One setback and her entire schedule get thrown off.

After an hour and thirty minutes, Hanni plopped herself down onto her sofa, letting out a long exasperated sigh. She picked up the TV remote and started to search for something to watch while she ate her meal.

After Hanni finished eating, she washed the dishes before changing into her workout clothes. She put on her smartwatch and adjusted the strap.

"7:36 pm...not bad. Should be able to fit in a full body workout today." Hanni said to herself.

After finishing her intense workout, Hanni returned to her apartment. She had a little trouble making it back since she worked her legs that day. She had to hold onto the wall because her legs were shaking a little.

Hanni took off her tennis shoes and made her way into her bedroom. She sat down in front of her drawer and picked out pajamas and her undergarments.

Hanni painfully stood up and walked towards the bathroom door. Hanni decided to take a bath today since she had trouble standing but she almost fell asleep causing Hanni to swiftly get out and get dressed.

After Hanni lazily threw her dirty workout clothes into the laundry basket, she sat down at her desk prepared to get her CPR assignment done. She looked at the digital clock that was on her desk.

9:10 pm

Hanni opened her laptop and began to type swiftly. Her eyes dashed along the screen as her fingers moved quickly across the keyboard. Hanni felt her eyes getting dry at times but she would just pause to close them tightly and blink a few times before returning to her hyper-focused state.

10:46 pm

Hanni printed out her papers and shut down her laptop. She stuffed the stapled pack of papers into her binder and shoved it into her book bag.

Hanni went to wash up in the bathroom before throwing herself onto her bed. She felt this wave of ease wash over her. She stretched out on the bed, feeling the blood rush through her limbs.

Hanni turned off her nightlight and pulled up her cover. Hanni was stressed out about her future. Her entire life depended on how well she did in school and at work. If she failed, she had no one to lean on for help. Maybe her best friend but she was also busy with her things. Hanni wanted to prove to her parents that she could do well without them.
