Hanni jumped back, hitting her back against the lockers.
"Oh my goodness!"
"Oh! I'm sorry Hanni!" The taller woman rubbed Hanni's shoulders, trying to comfort her.
"I didn't mean to scare you."
Hanni focused on calming her breathing, "It's okay Ms. Lee."
"Hey!"
"I- I mean..Hyein."
"There we go."
"I can't believe I didn't hear you come in."
Hyein laughed nervously while scratching her head. Hanni forced a smile to make the situation less awkward.
"My apologies for abruptly leaving earlier."
"Oh, don't stress about it Mis- I mean Hyein." Hanni smiled awkwardly.
"Come with me, we need to finish up the tour." The woman began walking out the door and couldn't help but let out a small chuckle at Hanni's mistake.
Hanni trailed behind Hyein out of the locker room. The two walked down the seemingly never-ending hallways.
The two continued to navigate their way through the maze of the hospital floor. Hanni brought her notepad to jot down notes as Hyein explained each room and area.
After what felt like a lifetime, Hanni's shift was over. She thanked Hyein for taking the time off to personally show Hanni around.
Hanni made her way back to the locker room to prepare to head home.
When she was just about done with grabbing her belongings from the locker room, she felt someone staring at her from behind. She turned around slowly and cautiously, to avoid getting scared again.
Hanni wasn't expecting one of the girls from earlier to be standing between the door frame. Hanni felt her entire body tense up. She was alone with the girl, which wasn't good. Hanni started to question, 'What if she's here to get revenge on me'. Hanni started to sweat a little, 'what is she going to do to me?'
The girl started to move towards Hanni and all Hanni was able to do was stand still, anticipating the girl's next move.
"Hey, Hanni." She finally broke the silence.
"H- hi.."
The girl continued to walk towards Hanni slowly, stressing Hanni out even more.
"I just wanna talk, no need to be so nervous." The girl let out a smile, which looked a little suspicious.
"Why were you watching me?" Hanni asked.
"I was just building up the courage to talk to you, that's all."
"Oh..kay..what is it that you want to talk about," Hanni asked genuinely.
"I just want to apologize for what happened during lunch. I know what I did was wrong, and hopefully, you can forgive me, it's okay if you don't though. But is there any way I can make it up to you?"
The tone of her voice sounded real. She was starting to tear up a little while confessing. Hanni lowered her guard and felt bad for the girl. She knows there could be a deeper reason as to why people would act out and pick on others.
"It's okay. I forgive you." Hanni said with a smile.
The woman's face lit up. "Really?! Thank you so much, Hanni." The woman hugged Hanni. Hanni hugged back, still leaving some distance between them, and patted on the girl's back, comforting her.
